sonjaab got a reaction from rockfangd in Disappointed
Another thing I would check is the brake light switch.
If its failed either brake lights or OD wont work.
Used to be a big issue with GM trucks back then.
Just a thought in case it was mentioned and i missed it.

DAM!
Think my $11 pic a part BCM has failed again!
Fuel and climate displays are dark and no HVAC operation.
I still have my old BCM and even tho the displays are dark the functions still work.
So gonna pull the glovebox and plug in the old BCM and see if HVAC functions work
and if so its off to the local PIP yard for another $11 BCM !
Maybe I should of bought the $75 reman BCM back then?
The local PIC yard has 4 baby lacs so another BCM wont be hard to get.
Its been 90+ daily here near Syracuse so need that cold breeze when ridin' dirty!
My s-10 still has cold a/c so Im riding cool............
No fun drivin' her Neon car...........

sonjaab got a reaction from cdgrinci in Storing the Eldorado for winter
I have to laugh about the numerous chipmunks i have here!
They filled the trunk of my old Buick rat with the chesnuts off of the big tree in my back yard.
I guess the mothballs or cat didnt work so good!
I gotta do something with this old girl.
She runs so good but a rotted engine cradle took her off the road.
This is my new rat for blizzard season fresh from Fla.

Ran on starting fluid?
Im thinkin' low fuel pressure and need a proper test!
ADD a misfire to that.....................
Multiple issues........Crank engine and check for spark on each cyl. also.
NO backfire at all either on Starting fluid?
Then timing mark check.

sonjaab reacted to KHE in Stabilizer for decaying dashboard
I use a windshield deflector when my cars are parked outside (when I'm at work) and that has kept the dash like new on my cars.
Armor all does have a low gloss formula so it won't give the glare on the windshield. You might try talking to an automotive trim shop - one they may have some idea on what to apply to halt the degradation of the vinyl.

sonjaab got a reaction from rockfangd in Electric pump or motor stuck on?
Check your HVAC fan. Some GM models the fan runs all the time.
Esp. the a/c equipped cars!
A ancestor of GMs old "flow thru ventilation"
Pull the fuse for your HVAC and see if noise stops!
My Z-28s fan HVAC fan runs all the time and sounds like a hum/clicking when you turn the key on.
Very slight noise BTW!

sonjaab got a reaction from BodybyFisher in Seriously pulling my hair out. Dead battery
I had this same issue with my 94 Buick century rat. One time it was the antenna not cycling all the way and the relay
staying on killing bat. overnite. Cure was to disconnect at relay on pas. side bulkhead.
Made sure the ant. was up cuz it went dead after res. disconnect.
Another was the brake to shift interlock failed and killed the bat.
Cure for that (cuz i dont drive it anymore) was to pull the acc. fuse.
FSM said the BTSI relay was on the steering column. There are 3 of them.
Pulling them didnt help so i said F it and went out and took my new Caddy for a ride!

Yes, Battery disconnect sometimes removes codes.

You can usually borrow one from your big box auto parts school.
You gonna have to buy/rent a fuel line clip wrench too IIRC.

sonjaab got a reaction from BodybyFisher in 1992 STS Suspension issue
You will prob. end up with a passive aftermarket strut. The active OE front struts are long discontinued and $pendy if you find some.
You will also have to add the "kit" to shut off the CCR susp. or SES lights that would follow the active to passive strut replacement.
Not a difficult job or repair.

You know its funny one of the diagrams in the FSM I posted above shows the low pressure switch next to the drier the other near the firewall?! 🤪
What no likes or thanks icons? 😉😂I am trying to catch Bruce 😀

American Sunroof Company
AmericaN Specialty Cars
The company that "made/assembled" those ragtops for GM!~
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Specialty_Cars
Same company that changed/adjusted its name thru the years.
Those parts have a GM parts number.

sonjaab got a reaction from Bruce Nunnally in Climate Control no display
Got a new climate control today at a local yard for $35 bucks.
Guy sez its tested so I will install it tomorrow.
BAR: Hope its not a BCM I think its just the display as it fizzled out on the way home yet all the functions work.
Main worry is the weak heat output. Since all 3 hoses are boiling hot at the 3 way "T" I figure the core is not plugged.
Gotta take out the glovebox and check the accuator operation and prob. pull the cover over the heater core to to see if its evenly hot across the face. I see other posts of the heater core being plugged in these cars but the hot in and out heater hoses make me think its a bad accuator.
But Im lucky this core can be removed easily from behind the glove box ! My Buick core is the same way as I had to replace that one last year.
Cold weather like this makes me love my heated garage!
