Hey all!

My 93 Deville is having a  intermittent fuel center and climate control going dark.

They will reappear if I shut off car, open and close door (to reset the light timer) and restart car.

I note the fender guide lights also dont work along with the key and lights on chimes.

Fuses ok, swapped relays and maxi fuses around also.

Body Control Module dying?

UPDATE:

Had to go to the local pic a part yard for a glovebox light switch, grab bar covers and for $11 bucks a BCM for my Deville

and  a alt. for my s-10.  Since I have read posts on the fuel and climate controls going dark and inop., no chimes I figured I

would replace the BCM.

I just left the old BCM in place, removed plugs then plugged in new unit and let it rest in glovebox hole to test.

EVERYTHING works!  Display, chimes etc!

Will leave the new BCM that way for a couple days to make sure the problem is solved then reassemble correctly.

Yea,  $11 bucks and got me the glovebox lite n pushbutton, handle covers, trunk release button, a few relays and those big

fuses under the hood.  Got a shiny new alt. for my s-10 all for $44 bucks.

FDC and CCC , chimes, etc all working.

New BCM just plugged in and sittin' in glovebox hole till I am sure it works then I can re-assemble.

Just glad I could disconnect the BCM wires and hook up new unit to see if it cured the problem.

BTW:  New/used alt.  cured my s-10s intermittant no charge issues also!

NOW I can head to Fla. and soak up some sun for a week or so and drive my girls POS Dodge Neon

back to NY for the summer.  (pray 4 me!)

DAM!

Think my $11 pic a part BCM has failed again!

Fuel and climate displays are dark and no HVAC operation.

I still have my old BCM and even tho the displays are dark the functions still work.

So gonna pull the glovebox and plug in the old BCM and see if HVAC functions work

and if so its off to the local PIP yard for another $11 BCM !

Maybe I should of bought the $75 reman BCM back then?

The local PIC yard has 4 baby lacs so another BCM wont be hard to get.

Its been 90+ daily here near Syracuse so need that cold breeze when ridin' dirty!

My s-10 still has cold a/c so Im riding cool............

No fun drivin' her Neon car...........

Success!

Replacing the Body Control Module didnt work.

Manual states that orange/black stripe wire from BCM to the Climate CC and Fuel FDC

should have 16 V at the FDC.

Wire showed less than 5V  at the FDC.  Should of read 16v as the manual states.

Unplug both CCC and FDC and the wire shows 16v again.

Plug IN the FDC and the orange black stripe wire shows 16v.

NOW plug in the CCC and both guages go dark and the wire shows 5v again.

Well I guess the FDC unit has failed again!

AGAIN:  The $10 bucks I spent on the GM service manual was worth it!

So I gotta look for another FDC controller!

I DID install the $75 reman BCM cuz I cant return it.

Good troubleshooting.

You should have some... peace of mind replacing the BCM. Save the old one though.

Good luck in finding the climate control module. There should be some still out there.

Yea,  There are plenty of them around used.

Gotta head to a yard in Rochester to get one.

Then I can put the dash back together.

The tech who traced it out tore the dash to pieces! Open Photo

Well I drove to Rochester and got the used CCC and plugged it it.

BCM cost $45

IT WORKS!

FDC and CCC all lit up and working!

Rain today so have the car in garage so I can put the dash back together.
