I guess he replaced three injectors, huh?

How does the booty picture help the presentation?

He says nothing about how it runs unless I missed that....

Well that didn't take long.

The booty is just his style and an attention getter, like this one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...ADME:B:EF:US:11

P.S. Note the negative feed back (on the sale in post #1). LOL Positive feedback is only 95%.

The price of $3222 says that he never got it running. The number is a little precise; it looks like he totaled up everything he has in it plus the selling cost and wants to give up. The price is about $1K higher than the price he has posted here.

The guy who posted the negative, sosastore, also has a low number of feedbacks and about a 95% positive. But, ebay withdrew mrmaxwell's rating because he didn't respond to inquiry about why he didn't pay for the item after winning it. I think that this was a car that The Fred was discussing here at the time, when he said that there was a CarFAX problem and that after resolving it the seller wanted $500 more. It seems that replying to eBay to that effect would... oh, never mind. The seller sosastore recently closed his eBay account; the last transaction was the one after teh mrmaxwell debaclle, on December 7 (he bought some cheap 205/60-15 snow-rated 4-season tires) and sosastore is no longer a registered eBay user.

Looking at other links, mrmaxwell has a transaction gap between September 8, 2005 and March 7, 2006. In that period (January 5, 2006) another buyer, petmypat, didn't pay sosastore for a car. The buyer petmypat bought a cell phone from wutan2004 on January 30, 2006 but didn't pay for one that he had won from electronics-4u on February 3, 2006, less than a week later. The seller electronics-4u is apparently a mass seller that handles positives automatically and negatives are handled manually in batches about once a week; it looks like petmypat bid on two phones and declined to pay for one of them. That was petmypat's last transaction; he dropped his eBay account with a rating of (-1).

Often when you connect the dots, the picture isn't representative of the phenomena that threw the dots. Sometimes it is.

I'm not sure that I would bid on a car that did not have decent pictures posted, and the only picture that was posted is a montage with 25% is a clip from a Government web site, and 25% is apparently a clip from a porn site. About the best thing you can say about what you can see of the car is that the hood is down and it looks shiny.

For those of you who haven't seen it, look at The Fred's web site.

Wait a minute, I think the booty pic is a real asset to the page! The only thing you can take at face value, imho <_<

z-rated STS? Someone bought more tire than he/she would ever use.

She has a face??? I didn't notice... :lol::lol::lol:

This is a good example as to why you need to know what you are buying on EBAY and why bidding on a car without inspecting and driving it is risky.

I've seen worse cars, and worse ads, on eBay than The Fred's. Some of them have been posted here, to great hilarity. One of my favorites was one of a late-model Deville with many pictures, and the pictures could be easily seen to be taken of different model years, different color cars, etc. One Caddyinfo forum member sent inquiries and received many semi-literate veiled threats that I thought were appropriate for a police report in themselves. There were no bids on the car, and it was re-posted on eBay. I lost track of it after that fact was posted here.

Another was an estate-sale 4.9 that had leaked all its coolant into the oil pan while sitting in the garage for years. It was posted as a running car with a rusted fuel line in a gushy post, and every blurb ended with "God bless" as did every e-mail and phone call. I think the post was by the devil hisself.

But, yes, people post terminally ill, junk, untitled, or non-existent cars and other merchandise on eBay. It's a constant problem for eBay and they have gotten quite proficient and expedient in dealing with it.

It's easy to deal successfully in eBay, and I use eBay as a source for stuff for my old Canon FD system and information books for it. Just follow the warnings and suggestions posted prominently on the eBay site and web pages. For example, I tend to be most comfortable when paying by PayPal because it offers fraud protection equivalent to that of most credit cards, but more focused and quicker response to any problem or dispute, and it's well-integrated with eBay so traceability is quick, positive, and absolute.

But, when you're dealing with a big-buck item like a car you need more protection than you can get online. I would never by a used car online unless I could physically inspect and test drive it, and have a mechanic of my choice inspect it, before accepting it.

I did these searches when he was here. I know there are those who might think I was hard on him when he was here. There were those who voiced their displeasure with the tone of the interactions I was having with him. When you do the searches above you see he had similar interactions all over. When you look at his entire history I think we were patient as a group, too patient. The day he joined here as a member, I receive a bunch of PMs giving me his history and telling me to watch out for him. He is young and will learn that sincerity and depth are more important than smoke and mirrors, but I think that lesson is going to be hard for him to learn. Humility is hard to learn. While he was a self professed cadillac lover he trampled all over this board, showed a lack of respect for others and refused to conform. He finally took my advice and he is selling the car. This should be an example of how we as a group have become way to accepting and nice given how long we let the problem exist.

BodybyFisher -- I for one never though that you were too hard on him; I only wished that I could be as firm sometimes. I'm not surprised that you researched him, particularly after you produced links to some of the posts, and resultant dust and smoke "over there" that he had stirred up.

It was clear that the fuel injector problem required more mechanic than a home garage in Kansas during the last series of posts. I kept trying to steer him to a dealer.

I do agree that we were good with him, and I thought that he would eventually adapt and find a niche, until the last series of vastly inappropriate posts -- that were instantly deleted.

I thought that he was a multiply-divorced old-timer until I started looking at his web site. But, this is a public forum, with posts available on the open Internet that turn up on search engine links, and I shall not say more.

 explain to me how multiple-divorced comes into play in a PM if you would, what does that indicate.

I don't know if the members here have been following his ebay auction for a 1994 Seville but if not you should take a moment to bring up the listing and scroll down to the last paragraph. Seems he is upset that no one is bidding. I've been on ebay since 2000 and have never seen a listing like this. I'm surprised ebay hasn't removed him. Unbelieveable.

He's edited more than the last line. In a listing originally full of red flags from the very first thumbnail picture, he has turned it into a hornet's nest. Why take it down? It's fun to watch.
