sprucegoose
That is great news! It’s always a good feeling when you accomplish a troubling repair like this yourself! 👍🏻 Yes, there are plenty of experienced GM guys here that can help diagnose, narrow down options and even just bounce ideas off of! I’ve had 4 Caddy’s now, and just love them! There is something about the nice balance of style, ride and power! 😎 rockfangd 1 Quote '09 Cadillac CTS-4 3.6 direct injection, 128 K mi. Bruce Nunnally
The pics have to be below a certain size in bytes, based on your membership level here, or you can put the pics anywhere else and then link to them here. Bruce Nunnally
For example, if I upload a photo to imgbb.com or similar photo upload site, I can insert it here by "insert other media" in bottom right and "insert image from URL". Tried reducing them on my iPhone but cannot get it to work ???? One quick way I figured out to do it with the iPhone. I select the pictures from my album and email them to myself. It will ask you what size do you want to email and select either the small or perhaps the medium size picture. Then save those pictures back to your album and you will have a much smaller size which you should be able to post here. Try posting those just one of those at a time. BodybyFisher
I have someone on FB Messenger from when I tried FB that is having this exact problem right now. But, he has had 2 ACDELCO alternators go bad, first had a bad bearing and the second time which he is dealing with right now, the Battery No Charge message and alt light. Its hard to believe that ACDELCO units failed so quickly. I will say this though, about 10 years ago I had my alternator rebuilt by a reputable shop and they used a chinese bearing that whined badly at highway speeds. The rebuilder thought I was nuts he said I would not be able to hear it. I bought a US made SKF bearing and had him install it and BAM.....WHINE GONE. After cleaning the scant amount of grease out of it when I rolled it in my hands there was a flat spot.... nope I wasn't nuts and yes noise and vibration will resonate into the cabin. I listen very closely for anomalies when I drive though. The shop went out of business and I was upset. I often wonder why he would give in to using an inferior bearing though. The US needs to get back in the game. rockfangd
Because it was cheap. That is the answer. He could get the chinese one cheaper from overseas rather than getting one in America that was made in America. Does that make sense? It makes perfect sense but when his quality dropped that should have been a red flag. It is funny that he fought me when I said the chinese bearing was the problem, I took it back to show him the flat spot. Profit should not be the primary driving force if a drop in quality occurs.
