Haha, I stand corrected! :P

I forgot that they were still called that in the 90s. My Deville has the big sunroof and I LOVE it. I am thinking about upgrading to a 2002 or so STS in the near future. The astroroofs aren't as big in those, but as long as it has one, I'm happy!

Did it vibrate at all when you first started it? I find it odd it's not doing anything at all. I had 2000 DTS that had a bad head gasket (NOT due to the engineering of Cadillac, but due to someone overheating it SEVERLY) and it vibrated when I first started it when it was cold.

Nope ranfine. Other than the whistle noise, and it sounds like air is being ran througout the system.

Does the whistle noise sound like air being sucked in? I have had a strange noise similar to that coming from around what seems like my power steering pump. But it seems lower than that. It's been on the car ever since I bought it. I have done the combustion gases in the coolant test with the tester I bought from NAPA and I have never had any other symbtoms, maybe it's some other whistling noise. I should record it onto a video and let everyone hear it.

No need for a video. That's a vacuum leak in the manifold over pressurization valve seal. It's a spring loaded flapper door in the tunnel behind the P/S pump.

Any pictures? :P:nopicssmiley:

How would I go about taking care of this? What sort of problems would this cause besides a whistling noise?

Sorry for hijacking your thread!

Thats ok its relevant.

What I want to know if the intake is replaced when the dealer does The HG job. Because the intake has to be replaced when that valve is bad right? The noise would come from the passenger side of the engine behind the PS pump

UPDATE 2/9/11

Picked up my car this morning after looking over the paperwork and car thorougly.

The car starts right up with no noise. Was told The right front hub assembly is very bad(Howls very loudly).

I say it was worth every penny. Everytime I look at this car it blows me away. below is a general list of what was done.

20 Timeserts

headgaskets

crossover gaskets

valve cover gaskets

intake and related gaskets

case half seals including front and rear main

spark plugs. AC delco ptatinum.

And other stuff I am forgetting to mention.

The total was 3,470.

I took the car tight to te gas station to fill it with premium and reset the fuel info.

The engine runs flawless and other than the noisy bearing the car is soundproof, no shaking, straight wheel. has alot of power and a firm ride.

The only one thing that is bothering me is when I pulled out of the gas station the Service engine light came on and has not gone out after 20 miles, Codes are as follows.

P0138 HO2S high voltage bank 1 sensor 2

P0151 HO2S low voltage Bank 2 sensor 1

I dont know if there is a fuse, or what the case might be but I only have a 10 Day inspection so I am worried about clearing it in time for inspection. Any ideas are highly appreciated. It seems funny both would malfunction at the same time.

Other than that I am very happy and glad to have it back

I am too, now If i could just keep the service engine light off so I can get the NYSI done.

Once everything i done with this car I will write a full thorough review with pics and progress.

Today the P0138 code went away but Istill have te P0151, and now I have also P0155 and P0174

I also have defiately noticed few big differences

My deville has more legroom, I have the seat all the way back and down and I feel the seat needs to go back farther. Surely I will adjust.

The fact that I can control where the heat comes out on the seville is wonderful I love heat coming out of the dash vents. I never understood why the Devilles had no setting for vents.

I found the same thing - the Deville has more room than the Seville. In my STS, I tilt the seat back to gain headroom and more legroom.

The logic of having the heat come out on the floor on the Devilles is that it will warm the cool air at the floor and then rise to warm the rest of the car. Also, dry heat coming out of the dash vents can dry and irritate the eyes.

i got P0174 in the last week. every few days i seem to get it. new intake gaskets and hoses look good. same for you. not sure that the manifolds warp. could happen. my manifold is used though. from another car. swapped it 2 yrs ago. i also had P0140. cat sensor heater performance. i am not sure if a voltage issue on sensor means sensor is bad or wiring for sensor?

completely understandable with the flow though ventilation but I like the heat on my hands

You could get an 04+ Deville with a heated steering wheel! :P

UPDATE 2/13/11

Forgot to mention technician stated only 2 of the headbolts had pulled and caused the problem.

Thats nuts 2 bolts cause such a problem. 3500 for 2 bolts, but anything is better than a new engine lol.

Replaced the o2 sensor, bank 2 sensor 1. Front lower on the manifold. went 3 trips, light went off, 76 miles now with no light or codes.

Hope to take it in tomorrow for NYSI.

Also have to ask is it just me or does it seem like the driver seat should go back farther. I dont even need the exit setting on the memory because the seat is down and back as far as it can go. I am 5'9". Maybe I am missing something, I dont remember my eldorado feeling this tight. Need more opinions

well 150 miles so far and Check engine light came back on once for B1S1 O2sensor but went away, still on the first tank of gas so I am going to wait and see how it runs once all of the old gas is out of the system. Right now it has a stumble from 35-60 but has gotten better as I drive it.

Just got it to pass NYSI so I am grateful.

once spring comes I am going to take some trips.

I find I still have to drive my Deville though because the ride is just wonderful

  • 3 weeks later...

I feel completely satisfied. I paid 3500, didnt have to lift a finger (which was a first as I do my own work) The engine should be strong for te life of the vehicle. I cannot complain.

considering I run a job that I work all the time, have a hectic schedule, it is winter, and do not have all the proper tools it worked out good.

Everyone has their own preference on how things get done

It is so hard to explain what drew me to this car but it just feels right. almost every car I have ever owned has been a one of a kind and it continues. I am especially blown away by the 3 piece spoiler. it pops with the back of the car withoutt saying gaudy. Does anyone else have any pics with spoilers? or even cadillac pictures in general. Cadillac porn hmmm lol.

I like to keep my threads clean :D

Also mods can you please clean up this last page if possible. I dont read it and nobody else should. Thank you

Rockfangd,

The new car you have is absolutely beautiful

I love that color...I hope to find one in that color in a few months when I am looking again.

I have always wanted a spoiler for mine... just never got around to getting one.

I think they look really good.

I apologize for messing up your thread...

Maybe this will make up for at least PART of that....

A couple of pics of my car...

my 2 other favorite colors are pearl white and thee darker teal, usually seen on the mid 90s seville.

the good thing about the prius is you can run them off the road
