Bruce Nunnally
The Forum rebuild is still in progress. What you see right now is the message rollback to April 14. That means that we lost posts/replies after April 14. Next we'll see the ver update to 2.2 then the customizations reset. It may be safe to post / reply from here, but also okay to wait for the next wave of updates just to be sure. You can find the board version at the bottom of the page. As you may know, Caddyinfo was struck by a new script-Kiddie attack. Basically what happens is someone without enough to do writes a script to help break into specific variants of the forum software, then someone with low self esteem uses the script to attack random forums. Often the attack is simply based on finding a variant of the forum software online. In a conventional sense, it is similar to electronic grafiti. No reason, no rhyme, just anti-social behavior. Anyway, back to the uneffected board code, and next we will be upgrading to the latest, more hack-resistant board forum version, and back to our normal programming. Cadillac Jim
They're not done updating. We'll get everything, up to the hack, back when they're done. The real question to me is: will there be criminal investigation and perhaps prosecution??? -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Bruce Nunnally
One part of the problem is that the code injections started that far back. So that the backups had modified coding in some of the structures. Rather than take a chance on leaving a backdoor in place, we are starting from a clean amputation from a known good position and moving forward from there. I'm not an expert by any means on this topic, but from what I have studied, the other symptoms we were seeing were indications of the same problem. I am archiving some of the customizations so that it will be easier to update in the future. Each time we update the forum software for major changes, any customizations that we use have to be manually redone. The easier that process is, the more attractive keeping up to date as soon as changes are released is. That helps make us a less attractive target for random anti-social behavior. Logan
I personally do not have a problem with the hacks. It verifys the weakness in the system. v.2.x will be better in most cases. Every time we learn a bit more.... It is like my 2001. Still chasing a po1410. Today...found a bad AIR valve...and loose vacuum hose. Po410 goes on...I can see the readeness monitors with a scan tool. TN fails with 2. I think I am currently down to 1. Should be able to PASS Monday for plates. Need a O2 sensor test pass to get there...drive time..crazy stuff..most states allow 3. Learn more and more... OK, but Jims 97 ETC said you would eventually get the posts up to the final porn hack. Is this true? I have a thread that is totally missing now. It is pretty important to me because I'm still working on the particular problem. I'm wondering if I should just start it all over and just summarize the old one in the new? Ranger
I use Mozilla Firefox and it has a built in spell check (thank God). I can't seem to get the quote button to work. Bruce Nunnally
Quoting Posts Displayed below each post in a topic, there is a 'Quote' button. Pressing this button will allow you to reply to a topic, and have the text from a particular reply quoted in your own reply. When you choose to do this, an extra text field will appear below the main text input box to allow you to edit the content of the post being quoted. The best way I can explain it is that the 'Quote' button is a toggle, and that if you hit the 'Reply' button next to the quote button, at the bottom of a particular post, it quotes that post in your reply. I use Mozilla Firefox and it has a built in spell check (thank God). I can't seem to get the quote button to work. I have to do it manually. I also noticed that the quick edit does not seem to work, but the full edit does. The quick edit sometimes is below the current view for me, and I have to scroll down to see it onscreen. Cadillac Jim
Logan: I originally got my Norton Firewall because I kept getting intrusions from people in Canada and the L.A. area rifling through my files looking for email addresses and having to disconnect the modem. adillac: I can edit my profile; perhaps you just hit a glitch. Try again? BodybyFisher: The new editor is fantastic, but I don't see the spell check. Where is it? I'm still using the spell check in Firefox. Before the hack I would highlight what I wanted to quote, then press the quote button and when I went to quick reply, I got a button at the bottom which when pressed would quote the highlighted text. Quick edit just seems to take me back to the quick edit again and I keep going in circles. Full edit seems to work OK.
