Ranger
Thanks Bruce, the only thing that would make me feel better than getting this board back was knowing that the little idiot was caught and spanked. Followed by a diaper change.... I think I like the new version s/w, Bruce. I don't know much about computers but, isn't there a way to track the little bastard down? BodybyFisher
Bruce, I looked through the help section but didnt notice anything on attachments/photos. I have been unable to attach photos, and there was a statement about a global cap. What is the status of photos and attachments. Bruce Nunnally
There is a global cap of 100 megabytes of uploaded files on the board host, and we have reached that. I pruned some older files today, but need to continue to do that to get more space under the cap. Things like the skins don't add in to that limit, only files uploaded to the board. In general, any files that we can upload to free sites elsewhere and link via url from here is a good way to avoid the caps. The next level up is x2 our yearly fee for 200 megabytes. BodybyFisher
Speaking of the cost to maintain this site. I did a search by 'contributing members' and was disappointed at the small group of our members that contribute. Members, did you miss this site when it was gone? The annual contribution is equivalent to 8 gallons of gas, is this site worth 8 gallons of gas to you? Have you saved money because of this site, do you visit it on a daily basis? While the annual contribution is a small amount for each of us, en mass, it amounts to strong support. By not contributing the board needs to stay trim, we can not post photos (anyone like the scans and illustrative photos?). Show your appreciation to this family by contributing to its upkeep. Bruce, in 2006 I plan to increase my contribution given the tremendous benefit I receive from this site, Thanks Scotty & BodybyFisher (both who are Contributing Members). BodybyFisher
Thanks jack! BodybyFisher and Scotty are arguing, Scotty only wants to help contributing members.... LOL! Don't tell him I said so, but as you know, Scotty he can be a miserable SOB at times.. I just counted and only 23 members contribute, 23 members and last night we set a new attendance record of 68. Let's try to double the contributing members by 2006 folks! Who else is in? If everyone one would just to the minimum of $20 a year, think what a difference it would make. I decided then I wanted to contribute. I was gonna wait until the site was back to normal...so now's the time. I imagine there are many members here that have no clue what costs are involved in keeping this site up and running, nevermind the time involved. Bruce, is the hosting the bigger expense, more so than the Invision licensing?
terrylange
Thanks, Bruce, for getting this valuable resource for all us Cadillac fanatics up and running again. I just sent in my contribution. Best wishes for 2006 to you and all the members who have helped me solve some of my Caddy problems over the past year. Thanks, Mike Ok, more info on this -- the new board has the capability to apply a global max per user. So BodybyFisher was being limited to 100K for ALL posts by BodyByFIsher. I have removed that, so now we are back to the per post limit with no max limits. Keep in mind we do only have a limited TOTAL space available (100M) so we'll have to prune old stuff as we go to stay under that. BodybyFisher
Tell me if I am wrong Bruce, I don't know what the costs are, but if more members contribute, does it make life easier in terms of greater than 100 megs of total space available? Are we pruning old posts, old JUNK posts or photos?
