Bruce, has it been determined how this happened and are we guarded against it happening again? Did this occur on the server level? I trust you received some of the information that I found. Thanks, Mike

I have asked Invision to go ahead and update us to the latest version of the board software. This was on v1.3 which is not nearly the latest. I had emailed them previously on this topic but I think we confused each other.

Meanwhile, I have added the install lock file someone emailed as a suggestion, and tightened the password securities, and learned more about how to make local backups of some tables.

So, yes things are getting changed to try to keep out the scriptkiddies, but I'm sure we will have new things to learn as we go.

Good job! To lose all the previous post would be like losing all your treasured photos in a fire. sad.gif Thanks Bruce! smile.gif

Bruce, I was just curious, was this patch in place before the hack and if so, can any changes be made to keep the creeps out in the future?

This is great Bruce. Even is only a few days were lost, that's a heck of a lot better than what we woke up to a few days ago.

Now go get some well deserved sleep laugh.giflaugh.gif

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

Bruce,

Thanks for your efforts in getting us up and running again. I'm not a super-frequent poster but I check in several times a day. I missed the contact while the site was down. I hope whoever did it had a good time. It's hard for me to figure out what makes someone like that tick.

Bruce,

I to would like to express my appreciation for your efforts in getting the board back up. As mentioned earlier, I didn't realize what it meant to come here, even though I don't post that often, I still check in everyday when I'm at work. Hopefully this board will not be a target of future attacks! Thanks again!

Ok, obviously the board has a new and different look to it as we adapt to the lastest

version of the host software.

I will be tweaking along as I figure more stuff out.

Please do visit the new "news" section, and let me know if you find other

RSS feeds that are specific to Cadillacs.

Thanks Bruce, the only thing that would make me feel better than getting this board back was knowing that the little idiot was caught and spanked.

Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.

Followed by a diaper change....

I think I like the new version s/w, Bruce.
