It's been a while since I've posted or even been on this board, but I still think about you guys...

I am a degreed Mechanical Engineer working at the largest steel producer in the United states, Nucor, as a Hotmill Mechanical Technician. I am responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of an area of the Hotmill. This is more responsibility than I had in mind when I graduated from college, but the money and satisfaction of working with mechanical equipment all day make it well worth the stress involved.

Steelworkers are a different breed...

This thread ran for some time about a year ago.

We have added many new members since then. I thought it would be interesting to revive the thread and find out a little about our newer members. (Who knows, some of the older members might want to update their info, too.)

A recently retired friend of mine told me his stock portfolio had just passed the $1M mark. He credited Nucor in large part.

Hope you own some of your company's stock! :D

There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

I was a contract manager. My last day was yesterday. My wife and I are moving from central Massachusetts to Lutz, Florida this month. My '97 Eldorado, '83 XJ-S and her '98 Explorer are going down with us.

I'd like to do something different when I get down there so...

I use to be a proffessional bodyguard/private investigator.

On June 15 2002, it was all taken away from me!

I was struck, and left for dead by a drunk driver!

I suffered a broken back, neck, punctured lung, shattered collar, cracked skull, and broken shoulder.

After 3½ years of rehabilitation, I am able to walk,(but with minimal amounts) sit (for 20 minutes or so), sleep(no more than 3 hour at a time).

I suffer brain damage, I can't remember things from day to day.

I gained over 300lbs from the steriods(lost 148 of it so far) they fed me in the hospital.

I am now legally disabled, and money is tight.

Nothing like making so much money, you don't know what to do with it, to a disability cheque once a month.

canadian95sts and I now have our own company, as he too was in the same boat as me.

We have a reclaim company. Like a "repo" man, but we will go reclaim anything, for anyone!

We both have over 15 years experience, and love doing it on our terms, and conditions!

Need something reclaimed??? ;)

Yeah, how about my youth :lol::lol:

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

All

I first want to say that you have all been a great help no matter what the subject.

Nice to know people are still willing to help without wanting something in return.

I work for Rarar Industries in Michigan. We are a Automotive Manufacturing Company. In a nut shell we stamp parts in dies for about 32 customers including the Big 3. We have probably made some of your Caddy parts. :D We also weld Assemblies of parts.Radar Industries

I Manage the Engineering CAD Dept. and do System Administration.

I guess I am a newbie too, although, I was reading this site (& the previous one) for a long time. I am kept very busy at my job, in a very tough field where I am a communications engineer. I have worked for AT&T/Lucent since I graduated in 1990. Prior to that in College & stuff, I worked for IBM. I currently work on what's called EVDO. (or wireless broadband). The Verizon/Sprint commercials are on TV all the time. I kinda believe I don't have many posts because I have had very few issues with my 96 Deville w97k. I thought I was going to have to change my oil sensor a few weeks ago, but it "fixed itself" :) I put a wiper blade on last night so will pass inspection this morning. I have learned lots of neet troubleshooting / diag tricks on this site, (a post from the other day, I was watching my HVAC cluster to see when my transmission selonoids 1&2 were energized & stuff. It's neet. BTW, I installed a OEM active audio amp/ CD/cass head unit / 12 trunk disk. -required lot's of wireing, but that's what being an enthusiast is all about - right. I will probably soon replace the trunk CD with a IPOD and the adapter or so. BTW, I usually read this site at the airport, or in the car (As a passenger). It's nice to know all of you.

I am a salesperson (Account Executive wowie). I sell merchandising displays for a Chicago company. mainly wire tubular steel and sheet metal. Go to any Walgreen's or Applebee's (we make the table caddys) and you'll see our work. Racks to put stuff on in retail stores mainly. I have a BA in BS. It's good work if you can get it. I drive about 1000 highway miles per week in my Deville she is a real work horse but i love her. Thinking about getting another because she has 116,00 miles. Did I ever think I would drive a Cadillac, NO but boy it's sweet.
