mywifests
I was wondering if the K&N Cone intake system would be beneficial for my 2002 sts. there is an ebay link below where you can get it and also a youtube link with a video. Bruce Nunnally
In my tests of replacement air filters, cone filters, and similar setups there was no measurable improvement on the Northstar. Cadillac Jim
I suggest that you get a Corsa or Borla mufflers or exhaust system if you want a performance upgrade that you can feel, but that your dealer won't get upset by. The Northstar intakes are already low restriction cold air intakes. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. The throttle really snaps without all the restrictions on the air flow! i bought it from the same guy that auction is from, good deal and quality item! Fit excellent! BodybyFisher
Some of the links in this thread are no longer valid, but we found that K&N filters allowed more dirt into your engine THROUGH TESTING, and you are probably shortening the life of your engine by using it. The article concluded that given the trade off of more dirt, paper filters performed better and did not restrict the air flow. The Cadillac intake allows plenty of cool air in to perform. DO NOT confuse a louder NOISE for better performance. http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...&hl=K&N Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

I decided to take it out because I had read online about how it let's more dirt through and I noticed my oil was WAY cleaner from then on. There is a reason they stopped using the oil soaked filters years ago. -Dusty- - 02 Seville STS, white diamond - 93 Sixty Special, Tan with vinyl top - 79 Coupe DeVille, Tan with Tan top - 06 GMC Sierra Z71, Black - 92 Silverado C1500, black and grey - 83 Chevy K10 Silverado, Black and Grey
Texas Jim
There is a reason they stopped using the oil soaked filters years ago. My 1950 Chevy had a oil bath air filter. It was a pain to clean it and put fresh oil in it every once in a awhile. Also, when taking it OFF... you had to be careful to not TILT it too much or you would spill oil all over everything. And that's always fun trying to clean oil up everywhere. You have to wipe it about 300 times before it's finally clean and not slimy! -Dusty- - 02 Seville STS, white diamond - 93 Sixty Special, Tan with vinyl top - 79 Coupe DeVille, Tan with Tan top - 06 GMC Sierra Z71, Black - 92 Silverado C1500, black and grey - 83 Chevy K10 Silverado, Black and Grey
abad95
Why don't you consider a K&N direct replacement filter for your STS? I've had that for while and I love it... Raised the RPM"s to go north of 6500-6600. It made even better difference with a better exhaust.Straight through mufflers. Florin
