BodybyFisher
That is a very hard paragraph to follow. Is the LIGHT ON, or OFF? Have you checked for codes yourself yet? Do you know that you can check for codes yourself? Do you know HOW to check for codes? Do you know that when the check engine light is ON, you have a P or Powertrain code has set? Fill us in with DETAIL, try NOT to run on, and just hit us with detailed BULLETS and break your writing up into paragraphs, please Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
sprinter10
In one of the previos posts on this thread I did post the codes that I did look up and retreive myself. -The Light is OFF -I have the code PCM P0650 Current Someone told me that code means that the engine light sensor is not working in some way like the wire was cut or it was disabled somehow I reaserched a little on my own not about cadillac but what that code means in other cars and found that there is a sensor that measures the voltage in the line with the engine light sensor to sense if it actually is on when it is supised to be if I read it right. I believe all of the lights are supposed to light up when the ignition is first turned on and it appears that they do. -all lights like abs etc light but there is a gap at the lower right hand side and I can not find the check engine light when I first turn the ignition on. I am guessing it is eather blown light, fuse, bad conection or something like that that is not allowing the check engine light to light and then sending that code. I did not clear any codes yet and got a long list. This is what I came up with When I ran the codes. No ABS No AMP No DDM No Dim IPC U1016 History No IPM IRC U1016 History MSM B1820 History MSM B1845 History MSM B1860 History MSM B1875 History PCM P0650 Current No RFA RIM U1255 History Rss C0592 History RSS C0594 Current Rss V1016 History No SDM TTM V1016 History VTD B1009 History VTD B2734 History The other code (PCM P0650 Current) I searched around for and found that it was for cruise control (At the time was not working for some unknown reason) So now that the cruise is working and if I get the problem fixed with the engine light all of the current codes will no longer be present and it should have a clean computer after I clear all codes. BodybyFisher
This code C0594 - Right Rear Solenoid Circuit Open is probably the reason you are getting the speed limit, its not related to the cruise control as you noted, its related to the RR strut I believe, someone will confirm that, I dont have a 2000 manual to venture a guess, but see this, I googled the code, JimD posted there http://www.cadillacf...m/t-208159.html Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

sprinter10
I know I could start more threads for each problem I had I am sorry for making it so confusing. Thank you guys for bearing with me and I have already fixed many problems over the last 4 pages and and getting closer and closer to getting things right. Would it be better to talk about the RR strut in a new thread? Just let me know what is better I don't want it to be hard for anyone to give there experience and knowlege. I really appreciate all of the help I have been getting.
BodybyFisher
Na, that's fine, maybe we will change the title of the thread at some point Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

You could expect to read more help on a suspension problem within a relevant thread. An (old) "Engine overheats" thread is not going to net many responses regarding a suspension issue. Your choice. If you do start a new suspension thread, be sure to include the parts replacement (if any) history details and only the related "C" codes. We don't need the module abbreviations; the five character DTC is very specific. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
WarrenJ
Yeah . . . let's keep it all in one place. Besides, meandering can sometimes be fun. sprinter10
Is there a fuse for the engine light by its self? or is there just the one for the instument panel? How can I check to see if the bulb is good. The engine light does not come on even when I first turn the ignition on. I just looked in the owners manual and figured out how to get the back seat off but was not able to find a lable for a fuse saying mil. Idk if it would be under another name or not. The fuse on number 6 under the rear seat has a weird metal tab hanging off the left side sticking up. Is that suposed to be there for a conection for testing or something? That got me thinking is there somewhere were I could find a service manual for this car for an affordable price? I think it would be nice to have and I plan on keeping this car fir a while longer and know I will see other issues like one I am having that I have not mentioned yet because I was gonnna wait to get one thing off the list at a time and make a new thread to figure out why my fog lights don't work on eather side when the fog lights fuse is good. Thanks again for posting that Warren J. I just googled a wiring diagram symbols guide and went through them all but I could not find that symbol for P101. nevermind that is a passthrough gromet I guess where it goes through the firewall? Your service manual describes P101 as "Left hand lower corner of the engine compartment block head, near the base of the strut tower." You can buy a new service manual for $135 from helminc.com. You'll likely find a used one far cheaper on eBay. P101.doc There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. Ranger
I doubt that CD is going to be much help. If you can't find a FSM by Helm Inc. on Ebay, consider a subscription to alldatadiy.com. It's basically an online FSM and I have heard good things about it.
sprinter10
Well I was at my neigbors working on the midget and got a phone call from my dad saying he found the problem to the cadillac. I got a little exited/curiouse he told me there was a guizer shooting under the hood from a crack on the rights side of the radiator at the top where it hangs from the frame. I was then thinking no thats not the problem I had before it was never leaking from there haha. It is in its 30's out and im shure it was brittle and had a stress crack in it that gave way when he floored it pulling out of a bank in fear of getting killed by a school bus he said (Sarcasticly). Meanwhile he tells me I have to drive it like a grandma and it will last. One of those do as I say not as I do haha. Can this be fixed with some JB Weld maby if scuffed up and cleaned with brake cleaner? How much would it be to get another radiator? aftermarket? or scrap yard. Thanks
JimD
IF that picture is a cracked plastic side-tank, you are NOT going to repair the crack with any JB WELD chemistry. Bite the bullet and replace the radiator. Parts only = ~~$150. Parts + labor will be more. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! I had it in my mind that it was going to be a lot more money than that thats why I was looking for a redneck fix. Should I go with teh alunimum side tanks for $164? any tips on replacing the radiator? doesn't look like to hard of a job. Looks like a pretty nice radiator for $164. rockfangd
Well, she was definitely due for a change... I'll bet it was original part in there! What was wrong with it? Did it rattle? I just changed the one on my 96 deville when I did my engine mounts, it had oily residue around it. That's no reason to change it. aah the weak point in these lovely radiators, Believe it or not but on the W-bodys and somee other GMs I blame the Dogbone mounts on the radiator support cracking the Upper pegs. I see it all the time, and it isnt very easy to see the leak because the rubber mount is on top of the crack, no easy fix for that GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile
