Cadillac Jim
You were traction limited for the first 500 feet, and again over a lot of second gear. BodybyFisher
Jim, I think that Mark is able to turn the TC/Braking off with a series of relays and switches. He has posi-traction I believe. Mark correct me if I am wrong. Cadillac Jim
BodybyFisher -- I wasn't talking about TC, I was talking about seeing and hearing tire slippage and backing off the throttle to maintain maximum traction. It's common on drag strips. It looks like the car got a 12.52 second time with street tires. It colud do better times with drag tires. Mark -- I did notice the characteristic TC staccatto tire slip at the beginning of the run. Was that the traction control, or was it just an artifact of how your tires and the track worked for that run? -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. JasonA
I'm sure he's running drag slicks. He was previously. Jason(2001 STS, White Diamond) "When you turn your car on...does it return the favor?"
MARK 99STS
You were traction limited for the first 500 feet, and again over a lot of second gear. Softer front tires would cut that time down significantly. Actually I was running slicks with only 13psi and still spun thru 1st gear. The track was cold as it was only about 45 out. I never backed off the throttle at all. If I could have hooked, I know I would have been in the high 11's. I will try again when the track opens in the spring. Yes Mike I have a limited slip(posi front wheel drive) and I had traction control off. Off the line it is still slow untill the turbo kicks in. That is what you here about 30-40ft out and that is when the tires blow off. I need to experiment with power braking and other techniques to spool the turbo at the line. I also think I have to much boost when it hits. Like a nitos shot. My electronic boost controller has a low and high setting so I can 2 stage it off the line. Again I will have to experiment as this was my first time out with the new motor. Also keep in mind that I am now running only a 9.5- 1 compression which allows me to crank the boost higher, but it is slower out of the hole. Bruce Nunnally
Glad to see the Turbo STS is performing so well. A 12.52 quarter mile is huge; super car territory. Also does not appear to be too far off for that mph for this car. You might can finesse it down to 12 but 12-12.5 seems a good run for that trap speed and the car weight. Fast95SLS
That was a great run Mark. The numbers were impressive. I can't wait to see the results in the spring after you have had time to tweak it.

BodybyFisher
If you look closely at the end it was 114.3 mph Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
cyrez00
Very impressive!!! great stuff. but... what in earths name was the car driving in the other lane..? must be a Jappy/Korean/China brand? Each his taste of course, but for me... i would make myself unrecognisable if i would sit in such a car. If you are in complete control..... you are not going fast enough.... BodybyFisher
I'm with you, that looks like a CAKE BOX on wheels, worst looking car ever designed IMHO There will be those who say, it creates useable space in the interior. Its drag coefficient must be ridiculous. Not only that large flat panels like that will tend to resonate and not take collisions well. But its different.
