I might have found a low mileage 99 ETC, its pretty exciting. I am waiting for a response as to whether it overheats, etc... If it does not overheat AT ALL.. I have a buyer for my car for the same price...yeahhhhhh... Its even more exciting that its a white/off white color... because they never look dirty..

keep your finger crossed

Take the VIN to a GM dealer and see what shows for dealer performed service.

Hope you can make it work, Mike. Guess you have given up on finding a Seville(?).

Well Warren has sold me on an Eldorado, the price of this car is so good, I cant pass it up. I definately want an ETC or and STS, and this one is in good shape. Since I park at the far reaches of any parking lot the 2 doors wont bother me. Given that I am single now, this car is more sporty and nice inside. We will see, what happens you know, when something looks too good, doubt it

I've seen Mike; I've seen ETCs. An ETC would look swell on Mike.

I've been campaigning for years to slip Mike into the car that he belongs in. I've driven him around in a few. Go for it Mike!

Regards,

Warren

EDIT: Mike posted while I was typing.

Heck, Mike, even a HG failure isn't as catastrophic as it used to be.

Jake in London is within driving distance of you or I, and his proven stud repair is around $1500.

Time to get you into a sporty ride ... plus, it'll be fun to tinker with a new project, bringing a

fun car back to life with a bit of elbow grease.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Well, it got much too weird. The price believe it or not was $2800, which was TOO good to be true. I found the car on Craigslist, sent an email, the 'seller' sent back a weird note here it is:

Hi,

I'm the owner of the 1999 Cadillac Eldorado ETC with 40,705 miles on which you've recently shown interest. The car is in excellent shape and in perfect running condition. I am located in Sarasota, FL now. The price for the car is $2,800. If you are not able to come and pick it up I can assure the shipping without any extra fees because my wife works at the shipping company and we benefit of their services for free once per year. The transaction will be made through eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection program for our own protection. You will have 7 days to inspect and test drive it upon arrival with no obligation to buy it. If you wish to go on, please get back to me with your full name and your shipping address so we can initiate the transaction.

Have a nice day

I don't have to tell you how much weirdness was in that response. I WOULD have flown down, my brother is in Sarasota. Notice there is no link to the ebay ad either, he would ship it for free?, send me your full name and shipping address?

I never got a response

Sounds like the seller's wife is allowed to ship one car for free per year dur to employment at a vehicle shipping company. Sort of an unusual perk. Also, the car was on Craigslist, not ebay - the vehicle protection program wouldn't apply - seems goofy to me. Maybe he would list it on ebay and have you bid on it? Who knows?

It would be interesting to run the VIN through the dealer and/or Carfax. You don't want to wind up with a flood car.

Seems like that car should bring much more than $2800 for only having 41000 miles on it. Maybe it's stolen? It would be interesting to have your brother check the car out and see what he can find out.

That is pretty weird! Sounds like a scam. Did you check it out by the VIN # to see who owns it? I would ask him for the ebay link just to see if he responds. And the car is not listed on ebay so how is it that he can use ebay to carryout a purchase transaction? If he's a scam artist he won't like it if you tell him that you want to send your brother to inspect it or that you want it brought to a Cadillac dealer for a full inspection. Of course, you would choose the dealer so you are in direct contact with them.

Just my thoughts.

After he sent me the above message I told him I would fly down, and I asked him for the EBAY link. I heard nothing. This must be a new scam of some type... I would imagine the car would arrive in poor condition and I would owe them $5000 more

As Jim noted, it was too good to be true... I woulda been stylin and profilin in that car!!!!

If the car was in clean shape, no mechanical problems, etc., according to edmunds.com, the private party value is about $6000. Trade is $5000. Something smells rotten.......

Wonder what he would have said if you said, send my YOUR address, I want to come by and look at it and if I like it I'll pay cash and drive it away. If he had an excuse, then you'd know for sure it was a scam.

As a matter of fact, when you read the Craigslist ad, you see that they speak about scams including shipping scams...

According to Kelly Blue Book a 2003 CTS in good condition with the basics is private party valued at $7,690. He's selling it for about $3,000 less. The way it's described is makes it sound as though it's in "Excellent" condition, which means the value would increase to $8,340. I put in 90,000 as the mileage which is a guess since it's not listed.

I'm not looking for a car but sent the seller an email asking for specifics on the car just to see if it was a scam. In the email, I said that I wanted to visually inspect and drive the car as well as test the coolant for combusion gasses. I never heard back from the seller...
