Bruce Nunnally
http://www.chronline.com/story.php?subacti...rom=&ucat=1 Angel L. Taylor, 38, was heading north on Interstate 5 when a trooper, checking travelers on a Laser Speed Measuring Device, clocked her going 122 in a 70 mph zone. Taylor, who was driving a 1999 Cadillac Catera, stated that she only wanted to get home, and didn’t realize how fast she was driving. I have occasionally gone above the speed limit. During NONE of the time I have ever traveled above say 80-90 mph did I not KNOW I was doing so at the time. That may be close to the TOP SPEED for the 99 Catera? Texas Jim
Nobody goes 122 mph without realizing it. Agreed. My DTS will run 80 / 85 without really feeling it... but after 90 or so, you "KNOW" you are going FAST. If you don't, you are too oblivious to be on the road at ANY speed. At 122 you are passing everything on the road.... quickly.
WarrenJ
And the Catera's speed limiter is set at what . . . ? Is it "Z-Rated?" There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
BodybyFisher
And the Catera's speed limiter is set at what . . . ? Is it "Z-Rated?" I think you are right, is it possible for the Catera to hit 122? I would be arguing that point if I was her. I did 85 to 90 last week to make a 7:30 ferry from Bridgeport to Long Island and made it from Harford to Bridgeport in a flash, I was shocked at how effortlessly my old Deville swooped on down the road...while getting 25+ MPG, I pulled onto the ferry and they shoved off, made it in the nick of time (but had to go through 3 or 4 red lights) Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
stefank
The Opel Omega MV6 (Cadillac Catera's sibling, basically identical cars) is rated 146 mph with automatic transmission. But you sure notice how fast you're going! Stefan
beetlejuice
My 89 Seville lit up 120 following an 05 or 06 GTO. I could tell I was going a little over the speed limit.
mcutchi
I've backed off the gas on my ex-Jag at 150 mph, but dang, I sure knew I was over the limit. No, the car didn't let me know, it was how quickly the road was disappearing that scared me.
