Hello fellow enthusiasts,

I was looking for an affordable Corvette for some time, and bought one last weekend over the phone.

It is located in Spain (about 1200 mls from us) and I will fly there on friday, return most probably on Saturday by plane having the car transported or drive it up here (less likely). It is a '93 LT1 in Quasar Blue, I like that colour!

Is there a message board for Corvettes which you'd recommend? Would love to find one with people as nice as here!

Thanks for any hints

Stefan

I will post later with the site my friend belongs to. I can't imagine what it would be like on your highways with the Corvette, good luck with it! Mike

When I was living in Austin TX with my 1966 427 Vette, I just drove around in low and second, and once a week I took it out on the Interstate for 15 minutes of cruise at 70 mph to keep the plugs clear.

I don't know much about the communities (people) involved, but http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/ tends to have interesting rumors on new models.

I think that http://www.corvetteforum.com/ is somehow related to Troy Roberts' XLR forum http://www.xlrforum.com/ but I am not clear on how.

Hello,

thanks for the tips! I still have the Seville, and will keep it. The Corvette is just for some fun driving. I'm really excited to see the car on friday, I hope it is in good shape. I'll share pix when I return. I'm a bit hesitant to have it shipped, it might be damaged or even stolen.

Mike, Corvettes are not uncommon here, but you don't see them often. They have a bit of a pimp image here, b/c some of these drove Corvettes in the seventies. I don't care for that kind of stuff, thou.

Thanks again

Stefan

Stefan,

Good luck with the new ride. We'll be looking for those photos!

Cool Stefan. By the way, I am not sure of you know this, but, the Cadillac at times has been associated with the pimp image here. Its usually a Cadillac that is tacky looking, that you wouldn't be caught dead in..... Enjoy the ride home with your new toy, Mike

Here is me with my friends 06, by the way, the house behind me is a good reason to keep a fire extinguisher in your garage, it started with a cigerette in a back porch. The flames were 3 feet high off a couch on the porch. I ran across the street to tell my wife to call the fire company, by the time I got back, the flames had engulfed the roof as it started the vinyl screening on fire. And I sprinted. both ways Three minutes later we broke the front door down and the smoke was so thick you needed to get on your belly... the smoke was a foot off the floor. The fire was out of control very fast..

It looks like a nice, quiet, street.

Judging by the condition of the lawn, that pic must've been taken soon after the snow melted.

Mike, I'm curious .... can you actually be comfortable in your buddy's vette ... you tower over it!

The neighborhood is changing fast, houses are being gutted all over. The homes were built in 1960. Its a really nice street, that picture was taken when it was still cold out probably February.

The Corvette is suprisingly big inside with plenty of leg room for my 6' 4" legs

Hello friends,

now I'm back from Spain where I bought the Corvette yesterday. It's quite a nice car, not perfect (ever seen a used car being perfect?) but drives fine and seems to be well kept. Some maintenance history comes with the car as well as some books.

It will be shipped here by truck within the next three weeks, at least that's the plan...I hope everything works out.

See the pix below!

Thanks for your assistance, best regards from Germany

Stefan

Very nice looking Stefan, good luck with it... I guess shipping it is cheaper than driving it?

Hi Mike,

thanks. Well, it's approximateley the same, if you consider, fuel, road toll in southern Europe, one night in a hotel, and insurance. And I had a nice day in Spain at the sea instead of driving and within two hours I was back home.

The car will be here beginning of July, the shipping company has confirmed this today.

Best

Stefan

First thing I would do is have the tires and suspension checked out and take it for a Sunday drive on the Autobahn. You will be truly amazed at the gas mileage it gets in 6th gear (ratio 0.5 -- double overdrive!).

Hello friends,

it took quite a long time to get the car here, but yesterday my Vette arrived from Spain. I've never dealt with such unprofessional companies before; if you ever plan to ship a car anywhere pick the shipper carefully!

Of course they did some damage during transport, they scratched the rear bumper. Right now I'm discussing this issue with the company, on my contract it says it's insured, but you know how insurance companies are.

However, here are some pix taken today:

Did some driving on country roads, runs well. No high speed driving as of yet, haven't had her up on my hoist yet to check everything.

Best regards from Germany

Stefan
