There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

Actually, the original design spec. for the Northstar engine was 270 HP. Marketing wanted the HP to be closer to 300 so the intake cams were changed to yield 295 HP. The 270 HP came out the next year (1994) and both engines gained 5 HP in 1995 with the plastic intake manifold.

I did notice a few things that I thought weren't 100% correct but the minds here will solve that :)

The Green's Machines

1998 Deville - high mileage, keeps on going, custom cat-back exhaust

2003 Seville - stock low mileage goodness!

2004 Grand Prix GTP CompG - Smaller supercharger pulley, Ported Exhaust Manifolds, Dyno tune, etc

1998 Firebird Formula - 408 LQ9 Stroker motor swap and all sorts of go fast stuff

I have heard that the info is not 100% correct as KHE and Egreen pointed out, but its a great summary of cadillac engines and a good starting point. For specific data we can go to the service manual.

As much as we know about Cadillacs as a group WE would be hard pressed to produce such a comprehensive summary. That is the first time I have seen information like that specific to Northstar and Cadillac.

Its just more info for our bag of tricks. I for one enjoy learning and will take info from any place I can get it. If anyone knows of better info please post the link. I suppose as TED noted, if we have better data, we can always go in and correct it.

I wasn't bashing it :P Its great and is nice that it so in depth.

It would be nice automakers made sections on their websites that were strickly about the history of, and making of their automobiles and such.
