YEA..............dont know why this control keeps failing.

This is the third one that has failed.

Tried swapping the faces with the other part of control body.

But something in the control body board section must have something that failed.

I eyeballed all the soder connections and they look good.

I see today that there is a 93 at the local pick n pull so if it dont storm out again I prob. will ride to get it.

The local yard has one but waiting for them to pull it.

Excuses why it hasent been done yet for $65 bucks.

I told the guy i could pull it myself in minutes for $50 bucks!

NO dice he say................

Like i posed the control i got in baltimore dont work..............

Hmmm//////////

I have pulled my own parts for years at many yards. Unfortunately disrespectful people ruined it. Smashing, slashing, stealing, wrecking parts to possibly get other parts... you name it

Many yards have signs and warnings (like the LKQ lots) about mashing and wrecking

stuff to get a part out.

Lots of little screws on the face of the Deville dash to remove to get at a/c heater

controller.

Easy enuff and gonna be sunny today in Syracuse so I will be off to the parts yard.

Well NO DICE on the $75 fleabay controller.

NO fan action but the other function worked doors/ac comp kiks on etc.

Sent it back next day and got a refund.

Found another used controller and BCM on fleabay for $100

Guy sez both work and has returns ok so I guess I will give that one a shot.

The BCM i can have on the shelf and it will work in my Z28 if needed.

I finally found a drivers door ext. trim panel also.

From that Caddy part guy in Texas.

$200 shipped...............Ouch!

Cant get pics to attach-

What do you suppose is failing on the Climate controls unit? Trying to think if it may be worth trying to repair one of them

Well i got another CCC and a BCM used as a pkg. off e bay for $100.

Installed CCC and all functions/fans work but I am hearing a rubbing noise.

The fan quit after a few minutes.

Checked fan plug for power and its good.

I am thinking I got a critter nest up in there.

Looks tite trying to pull fan as its behind the engine.

So i am gonna try using a coat hanger and try digging down the

defrost vents and up the floor vents and see if the critter nest is in there preventing operation.

Just hope I dont bust up and of the doors up in there.

My Caddy service manual shows no fan removal instructions so the

instructions must be in the BODY manual?

Anybody got any tips for access to the HVAC guts or fan removal?

Critters a big issue out here in the country and have given my nests

in my old buick and impala and Im afraid the caddy now too.

I need a large hungry cat.

Not sure if the critter nest issue is causing the CCC failures or 30+

yo GM electronics.

Could be broken soder joints or component failure.

I did contact Module Masters and they dont fix them........

Well the blower fan is toast!

What kind of job to remove.

Will it slide out fan and motor?

i wonder if i have to tilt motor for clearance?

Any tips will be helpful...............

WOAH!

What a job!

Had to move wiring and maxi fuse panels along with some engine harness

to get the old motor and cage as i couldnt seperate the fan from the motor.

Also couldnt remove the cage off the new blower as it was pressed on also.

BUT it did have a nut on it wheras the original didnt.

Had a hole broken in the top of the plastic HVAC housing.

Some "tinknockers tape" and a shot of black paint fixed the hole.

But its all together engine side and working along with the new/used controller.

I am suprized that there was enuff room without having to tilt engine for clearance!

NOT going to put the dash back together untill I recheck the soder joints and

internals on the 4 broken controllers and maybe one of them still work.

Easy to plug them into open dash to check operation.

Time for a cold one!

(sorry no pics)

Bringing back memories. Have not had to change one like yours in quite awhile. Same concept as mine, just different things to move. I hope it works

Well the new fan and replacement controller work as they should.

So I guess I am good for now.............

Will see how this new/used controller lasts this time.

Maybe it was the old failing fan that killed the controller?

I guess time will tell.............

There is a new 91 in the local pic n pull yard so may make a trip to snag the controller.

This was my thoughts exactly. The high amperage draw may have been taking out the units. I would be confident you should be good for awhile
