mad_trbo
Hello to all, I am working on recently purchased XLR-V year 2006. I recently experienced started experiencing a misfire on cylinder #2 which was discovered through use of the tech 2. I possible have an injector that is on the borderline and want to perform the injector balancing test under the tech 2's special functions. I've already measured resistance across all eight injectors and everything falls within the service manuals specifications. When I try to run the injector balance, I get an error : voltage out of range I am posting on several forums to see if any of the tech 2 experts can give me some pointers as to how to problem solve this. I appreciate any feedback.
Logan
Chinese Tech 2? I own a Tech 2 and have never seen this problem. So I don't know. It appears there is enough logic there for the Tech 2 to present the error message. But it could be some type of goofy issue if it's a Chinese one. I don't see anything in the service manual to help debug a issue like that. The service manual just doesn't cover Tech 2 error messages. The Tech 2 does not provide injector balance testing for every single GM model out there. Hence, there are....hand testers that do the same thing. The GM Kent Moore ones are kind of pricey.....but there are aftermarket ones for $40-50. Logan
Looking at the service manual for the XLR.... It is using the above Kent Moore tool for the injector balance test. And I also see this caution note: "Important: DO NOT perform this test if the ECT is above 94°C (201°F)." Cadillac Jim
Can't you switch the injectors between #2 and another cylinder and see if the miss follows it? -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. airmike
Jim, my guess is that he wants to learn how to use the tech2 for any and all applications it is designed for, even if he needs to ask for help from an experienced user. Not only that but it would be a lot easier than moving a pair of injectors around, although I would think that may be an alternative if he can't figure how to use the scan tool. Guess I shouldn't try to speak for another man, but I know that would be my reasoning, and since I have one I am particularly interested in the outcome. Cadillac Jim
If the software is pirated from a real Tech II, the post should work for a real one.
