TOMMYJ11
I HAVE CHANGED MY ORIFICE TUBE, EVACUATED AND RECHARGED MY SYSTEM WITH THE HELP OF A PROFESSIONAL. PRESSURES ARE FINE, SENSORS WORKING WELL. A/C FUSE IS GOOD BUT UNLESS COMPRESSOR IS JUMPERED, IT WILL NOT ENGAGE. WE USED A HOSE TO COOL THE CONDENSOR AND THE A/C FINALLY BLEW COLD IN THE CABIN, ALSO GAUGE PRESSURE DROPPED. REMOVE HOSE AND RESULTS GO AWAY. I NEED INFO ON HOW TO GET THE FANS TO DEPLOY. ANY IDEAS? rockfangd
Welcome to caddyinfo. You need to clear the low refrigerant code via the onboard diagnostics. Or disconnect the battery for a minute and it will clear. Look in the forum how to section and it will show you how to pull and clear your codes GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile

TOMMYJ11
WE DID CLEAR THE CODES BEFORE AND AFTER OUR ATTEMPTS. THE A/C BUTTON ON THE CONSOLE SEEMS TO DO NOTHING WHEN PUSHED. COULD THAT BE THE CULPRIT?
rockfangd
dont know if this helps but when you turn on the climate control the a/c is already on. It is turned off when you push the a/c button. Cadillac Jim
Do you have any messages on the Driver Information Center (DIC), such as LOW FREON - A/C OFF? Any message or light on the dashboard means that a DTC is set and is CURRENT. Some can be HISTORY and still have an effect, such as P1544, when set, means that the PCM will not allow the A/C clutch to engage. Please run your OBD codes and post them here. With the OBD codes, we can almost certainly tell you what is wrong with your A/C and how to fix it. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. BodybyFisher
I have a 98 Seville right now that is overheating and have been searching for a solution. The mechanic, put crushed tablets into the tank, but it didn't clog the air purge line and I checked for a blown HG. He put in 6 tabs, it looks like it was leaking at the water pump body seal and the tabs may have stopped the leak, the owner a friend of mine, smelled coolant, no smell now. The mechanic ALSO misdiagnosed a BAD heater core.....and insisted it needed replacing because the passenger floor was wet and windshield was getting condensation, but what he didn't realize was that the AC evaporator drain was CLOGGED and the condensate was leaking into the cabin and fogging up the windshield... Gotta love mechanics, time is money, slam bang, replace..... I need to review the cooling fan operation and check for correct fan function. thanks bruce. Bruce Nunnally
Nice find; I might have made the same guess as the mechanic. i didn't know AC evap drain could possibly back up into cabin somehow. BodybyFisher
The key to finding the condensate was remembering bbobynski discussing that the drain clog could put water into the car years ago and that I did not smell any sweet smelling coolant coming out of the vents nor did I find green or orange behind the carpet only wetness. The top of the evaporator under the hood was actually bubbling from condensate where pipes went in.
