Bruce scored some VIP packages to the "Chevy Team" "Ride and Drive" event and to the NASCAR race. He was kind enough to invite me to tag along with him. I hope he had a good time, I "KNOW" I did... So....Went out to Texas Motor Speedway Saturday for the race and some other stuff. We got to drive some of the new cars and then I drove one of the new Chevy pickups that haul the drivers around the track, waving at the fans, just before the race starts. It was all pretty cool and I really had a good time. The only drawback was.... there was "WAY TOO MUCH WALKING" for this ol' guy. I had the opportunity to drive a Volt, a Camaro SS conv and a Corvette conv. They would not let us turn off traction control and Stabilatrac...darn it... The Volt actually was a surprise to me. It was much nicer than I had thought it would be and it was also a little "BIGGER" than I had thought it would be. The Camoro SS and the 'vette were fun to drive, but the little winding, crooked, track they had set up wasn't big enough...darn it. The vette will hit the rev limiter real quick.... . . . . . . During a race, they sure use a lot of tires... Look in the upper left corner and you can see the row of tires just keeps on going. . . . . Had to have a pic of "ME"... . . Jimmie Johnsons pit... . . They had to tell us all about how they wanted it done.. Then we walked BACK (again) to where the pickups were... Bruce was kind enough to let me drive... This was mine... a nice white one... I had to wear the headphones so I could hear directions on what I was supposed to do... or not do... . . . . . . . . . . Weather was fine.. it was cloudy, so we didn't have to worry about sunburn. The only problem was "WIND".... it was around 30mph with gusts to 40 / 45...
