cadillacjeff7777
I had a vinyl top installed on my 2008 DTS and somehow there is a small slit probably about a 1/4" in the vinyl right about the right sail panel. Any suggestions on a weather proof repair? 2008 DTS
Cadillac Jim
If it's still in warranty, I would go to the dealer. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. The vinyl top/upholstory dealer and I had a parting of ways due to them trying to add $200 to the bill when I went to pick up the car. 2008 DTS
CoupeDTS
used to be a commercial in the 90s showing some paste you could put on your seat cracks that you mixed the color yourself. Im sure something like that is still around. * 1966 Deville Convertible * 2007 Escalade ESV Black on Black * 1996 Fleetwood Brougham Black on Black V4P -Gone* 1983 Coupe Deville Street/Show Lowrider -Gone* 1970 Calais 4dr Hardtop GONE* 2000 Deville DTS - Silver with Black Leather and SE grille GONE* 1999 Seville STS - Pearl Red GONE

Texas Jim
If you have steady hands... use a very sharp pointed toothpick and very carefully put come superglue under both sides of the tear and try to work it together so that the split don't show... Or take it to a different upholstery place...
Ranger
Clear silicone caulk would make it weather proof and and work as a pretty good adhesive.
CoupeDTS
If you have steady hands... use a very sharp pointed toothpick and very carefully put come superglue under both sides of the tear and try to work it together so that the split don't show... Or take it to a different upholstery place... that does work. I cracked a little area of my vinyl dash in my deville and put some epoxy behind the chipped out part and held it together with masking tape making sure there wasnt any glue outside the tear/chunk and waited a couple days. I removed the tape and walaa looks great. * 1966 Deville Convertible * 2007 Escalade ESV Black on Black * 1996 Fleetwood Brougham Black on Black V4P -Gone* 1983 Coupe Deville Street/Show Lowrider -Gone* 1970 Calais 4dr Hardtop GONE* 2000 Deville DTS - Silver with Black Leather and SE grille GONE* 1999 Seville STS - Pearl Red GONE
JohnnyG
I've never had much luck with super glue, especially over the long haul outside. I'd like to suggest regular contact cement, as is used on Formica countertops (and the edges of those tops) Lowe's has small bottles for a few bucks. It's forgiving to work with, but when the two items touch after the drying period, THEY WON'T MOVE to adjust. Maybe a little silicone rubber of some matching color over the repair to keep water out would be a good idea too, after the glue job of course. The Loctite spray glue won't work at all, so forget that one. Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
