coolnesss
I ran WOT's in my 2002 ETC last weekend and this weekend. There was no smoke on the deceleration at all that I could see. It's got 40k miles on it. Both times, the little battery warning light (the image of the battery) came on when the car was decelerating from just below 5,000 rpm to 4,000 rpm. It came on for a very short time - half a second or so - just long enough for me to see it and then it would go out - and only while the car was coasting down from 70mph in 2nd gear, on each WOT cycle. I had a new serpentine belt installed a coupla months ago, and a new AC-Delco alternator about a year ago, and, other than this, the charging systems works flawlessly. No codes are set. Any ideas? BodybyFisher
Try reseating the connector at the alternator and checking to make sure the BATT connection is tight. You might also check grounds to the engine. My guess is this is a mechanical problem not an electrical one, where as the deceleration is cocking the engine in a different direction than 'normal' and causing an intermittant connection someplace. JimD
I ran WOT's in my 2002 ETC last weekend and this weekend. There was no smoke on the deceleration at all that I could see.You should not expect see smoke during compression braking (deceleration). If you are going to see a cloud in the mirror it will occur when the engine is under maximum combustion chamber pressure as the RPM is climbing toward redline.I had a new....AC-Delco alternator about a year ago....Why?....other than this, the charging systems works flawlessly. If your battery cranks the engine every time you turn the key, your charging system is indeed working flawlessly. No codes are set.Any ideas? Yes. You do not have anything to be concerned over. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
