Well I thought I'd never be happy to see a code, but when I finished a 20 minute drive at highway speeds and was waiting at the light on the off ramp this afternoon, I got a (Service Emissions System - P0174 History - Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2.) So we narrowing down the issue and getting a lean condition !

The intake plenum gaskets are in and the dealer is installing them tomorrow. I will let them know about the code. Will let you know the outcome.

For the benefit of others that might see this issue in the future, here is what the final analysis was.

Replacement of the intake plenum gaskets made no difference.

Replacement of the PCV Valve and PVC Tube made little difference L shaped pipe was brittle.

Root cause appears to have been the EGR Tube leaking air at the throttle body side

The Dealer was truely on the up and up. Don't know if I'm allowed to print there name here but I'd recommend them for service. Did not charge me for the gaskets or the additional diagnostic work . Just the parts above. Also, said that they update the file data in the PCM with the latest version. Said it had never been done. Had a ton of history codes across the enitire spectrum that I cleared on the way home, so they did something to the PCM.

I finally have the car I bought back 7 years ago. It is runnning great !

Good to hear! I don't think there's any problem with posting the dealer's info, I've seen others do it before. And we have members in your area that might benefit.

WARNING: I'm a total car newbie, don't be surprised if I ask a stupid question! Just trying to learn.

Cheers!

Hey Ken, I am glad to hear this and that you are happy with the result. Hey you needed a new intake manifold gasket at this point anyway, good. I need the same gasket myself, its blowing exhaust. I have it on a list of things to replace before I go on vacation, next week. WOW, that is where you were sucking air, I guess. Glad to hear it, Mike

Thanks all and kudos to the Service Team at Claude Nolan Cadilllac in Jacksonville FL for working through the problem with fairness and proffesionalism on the resolution.

That is what dealer service should be all about. It is nice to hear about a positive expierence with a dealership - all too often, the shysters get all the pubicity.

How did the fix the leak? Did the replace the EGR pipe?

Yes, they replaced the pipe and eliminated the lean condition
