MAC
My silver Eldorado will chirp and the outside lights will flash when I press the keyless entry to lock it--and when it's unlocked it chirps. But my recently purchased Eldorado locks and unlocks silently without any chirp or flashing lights. Is there a way to program the alarm so the lights will flash when locked? I like to see lights flash because then I know it's locked.
BodybyFisher
I just spent some time looking through your owners manual and there is no discussion regarding customization or even what happens when the system arms and disarms. I even went here, sorry I couldnt help http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/cad94rke.html Thanks for trying--I appreciate it. I just checked the '94 Service Manual and there's nothing about making the alarm chirp and lights flash that I could see. Maybe that was something added by the previous owner. I would be curious to know if anyone else with a '94 Eldorado has a theft deterrent system that chirps and flashes lights when locking and unlocking. My alarm definitely arms, but it does so silently.
Bruce Nunnally
As I recall, it has to do with personalization and memory settings, but I don't remember how to change it and can't find a reference. Did you get a separate personalization guide? Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube

Did you get a separate personalization guide? I'll check--I have the Owner's Manual and a couple of other things that shipped with the car. Hopefully, I'll figure it out. Thanks for the suggestion. BodybyFisher
I trust you know that you can download your manual in PDF format? I was searching your manual extensively using Adobe Acrobat for about 15 minutes and nothing. I am quite surprised that there is no statement regarding the alarm and customization given that you have seen this system work differently on different vehicles. I would say that its possible that one is an aftermarket model, but there would be no reason to do that since the car comes with one. Maybe a tech with TECH2 can enable this feature. Cadillac Jim
When I bought my 1997 I was asked a lot of questions about what I liked about my RFA, and chirp vs. silent unlock may have been one of the questions. Look in the FSM about how to reprogram a FOB through the overrides in section 8D of the FSM. I didn't see the chirp in mine. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. MAC
I checked both the 1994 and 1998 "Owners Literature" and cannot find any instruction for programming the alarm.
