How many miles on transmission

Hi

I am just about to buy my second STS.

I have a 95 STS with 122kmiles on it.

No I had an accident and the repair cost are realy high (I live in germany).

I found a cheap offer of a 94 STS in good condition (89kmiles), with a few problems.

Has the well knows P056, but only history, not actual.

And a few smaller things, that can be fixed easy.

The transmission in my STS was changed a few years ago and has now arroud 37kmiles.

In the worst case, I can change them, but if it is not needed....

So here is the question:

How many miles do you have on youre Caddy with the original transmission??

Hope to gest some answers.... Eckhard :-)

128,000 and counting, never a transmission code -- even history -- and I get it serviced every 30,000 miles.

Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.

I had around 90k on my ETC before it got stolen - and the trans was strong and beautiful.

Changed the fluid/filter etc at about 50k and again at about 80k miles.

I have a '95 STS with 190.000 miles, and I only did the Input Speed Sensor for the tranny at 90.000 miles.Cost was $ 1200 7 years ago.(Besides regular maintanance.) Original tranny and motor.

Still have the same struts, and shocks.I'm looking into changing these this summer. It'll cost alot, but I'm willing to spend the money since I love my Caddy.

Eckhard,

living in Germany as well, I've got 107,000 mls (172.000 km) trouble free miles on engine/transmission of my 1996 SLS.

Transmission serviced once @ 93,000 mls (150.000 km).

Mostly Autobahn driving 75 - 90 mph (120 - 140 kph).

Best

Stefan

Moin Eckhard,

Hi

nein, zu viele Probleme.....

O.k. I will continue in english.

I won't buy this STS, becaus it has al lot of errors.

Transmission input speed sensor, defective rss, defective power steering and a lot more....

I found a 1998 STS with 73kmiles on it, that is absolute clean and without errors.

On wensday, I can drive the car and hope everything is fine.

The only thing the current owner tells we, is that the car has a litle vibration in the wheels at arround

75mp/h.

Below 75 or if you drive faster it is gone.

He said, that this is a known problem of the tires... anyone heared about that ??

BTW... price (in germany) with discount 8300€ - $6130.

regards... Eckhard :-)

Looks like I'm a little late but I'll add my information too. A little over 229,000 miles on the original transmission so far. Had a bit of a scare a few years back with slipping and losing gears intermittently. Used Trans X, drove it hard for 60 miles, drained, cleaned the screen, refilled with new fluid and the problem went away. Other then that little episode the transmission has been excellent.
