njnick88
I just bought a 97 Seville STS with 65,000 miles. I took it for a drive and I don't think it's producing all the power that a 300HP Northstar should. Does anyone have experience with this or any suggestions.... is a tune up needed? BodybyFisher
Make sure you are using premium gas Check plugs and wires, air filter Typically the plugs are good for 100K but we have seen the plugs lose their platinum pads. Bruce Nunnally
Do you have some way to measure the performance of the STS? What type of car have you been driving previously? Bad dried out, arching wires will sap power also Before the Caddy I drove a 94 Impala SS with the 350 LT-1. That engine had less horsepower than the STS so I'd imagine I'd get better results from the STS. As of right now it feels a little doggish... nothing like the SS. Cadillac Jim
You have a problem. The SS has nearly identical performance to about 45 mph but horsepower to weight tells from there to 80 mph or so, then above that it's hp to drag -- where the STS excels. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.
