I have to say that the whole name changing thing can be a little confusing to members who vistit the site on a bi-weekely/monthly basis...

Which reminds me, what ever happend to Bob D? He was right up there with Ranger and BBF, in terms of post frequency. However I haven't seen his name at all in the last 6 months...did he change his ID too?

Kids grow up, and kids move away. Dogs and Husbands, that's who stays.

bah, STILL waiting for pics of Bob D and his Ferrari. I wanted us to be one of the few (only?) Cadillac and Ferrari friendly forums. Then if we get some pics of Cardio Doc's Lambo we'll be European friendly.

I dunno what to say on the Scotty vs BBF issue, except may the best man win. I like the reference to Fisher Body, as the more Cadillac remembers how to return to a time of high craftsmanship the better off the marque will fare.

I think about Bob D often, he has not been around much as he was in the past, but he was here during January and February.... I also miss his daily contributions and sense of humor. I think I will send him an email and say Hi...

Sorry for the name confusion. My sitution was NOT a name change, I retired Scotty and kept his posts intact to limit confusion for members who knew Scotty and started BBF. Both names were supporting members for awhile. At the time, Scotty was heavily involved as you can see by his sheer number of posts and he was taking a lot of negativity from trolls. In addition, Scotty's namesake James Doohan died and I felt out of respect I wanted to change directions with my name...and decrease my visibility. I often search the archives under the name Chief Engineer Scotty when I know he covered an issue.

I am always quite surprised that members are not aware that Scotty and BBF are one and the same, I thought it was obvious. But surprisingly, Scotty still receives PM's even though I have not posted as Scotty for over a year.

I mentioned this in another thread but now is a good time to mention it again. Beginning March 12th, BodybyFisher will not be as involved going forward as I am going to work full time as a Real Estate Acquisitions Analyst in Manhattan. It has been a lot of fun and I will still pop in, but with a difficult job and a 3 hour commute (total both ways) time will be limited.. I have enjoyed the comradery, the knowledge and contributing and will pop in when I have problems or developments.... Thanks all..

Good luck with that commute... that gets old, after awhile, and takes a serious toll on your car or truck....

I did like 80 miles 1 way for about a year and a half....

So I started with a nice Tahoe with 55,000 miles on it.... after 17 months, my nice truck now has over 120,000 on it, an despite being fresh year-wise, has so many miles on it, it's lost any value it may have had as a used vehicle...

Hopefully, the job is really worth it for you, obviously... and if so, and it looks like the real deal, I would immediately get some sort of "driver" to pound all those miles onto.... don't run your sweet Caddy into the ground..

And good luck with the job!

Actually, I will be taking a train. I would hate driving I agree. On the train, I can use my laptop, read or sleep, its not too bad.. Long commutes are part of living in this area and many others in the country.. I am lucky to have a train to rely on.. The new job is perfect. Over the last 10 years or so I have been writing 80 to 120 page reports on shopping centers, office buildings, industrial buildings, land and mixed use properties. I hate writing (not that you could tell here ) I have done it too long. In my new job, I will be doing only a part of my old job with much less writing; it will be limited to cash flow analysis, lease analysis and due diligence for clients interested in purchasing commercial real estate, the part of the job I love... analysis... I may travel a bit also, something else I love to do... Overall its a great opportunity and more of what I did for a major commercial bank from 1982 to 1991.

I can't wait to buy a 2000 STS, and would love to find one with NAV, adaptive seating and backup assist. I will be doing my ISS sensor shortly along with replacing my radiator and finding my oil and tranny leaks and then sell my Deville..

I have thought about buying a cellular card for my laptop so I can use the commute time to browse the web, but something tells me that is expensive, we will see....

Thanks

I'd been meaning to ask about that . . . .

Regis, nice work!

Mike: I hope your new position is everything you hope for. ;)

The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

I got a nice email from Bob D tonight. His Caddy is running good and approaching 100K miles... He has three grand daughters now (all in the last six months!). His Mom is not doing well and he has spending his time with her so his time is tight.

He pops by once in a while to check in on us to see how we are all doing. He said loves his Caddy as much today as the first day I got it! We wish him well.....

"Bah"??!! Well that's fine endorsement, thank you very much Mr. Nunnally!

I'm still waiting for the dang deal to go through! Actually, when I first posted this pipe dream, I knew it wasn't going to happen until after this March. (Maybe I should have posted that too!!!) ;)

Anyway, I haven't taked to my wife's bizz partner in a while, and I haven't really thought about this a whole lot either....funny what a little flame will do, eh?...

Like Mike (Scotty) said after the kind words from some of you guys concerning me, I have been stretched a little thin with the three new addtions (and one near loss) to my family. Ah well, Bruce I will post some candid shots of my new toy should it really happen, So give me a break already!! B)

Glad to see you stop by; sorry to hear you are having a busy family time. I am very sympathetic.

No rush on the Ferrari news at all; I just enjoy car shopping and info.

In a more expensive sense Ferrari's and other exotic cars are similar to Cadillacs --- they make little sense considering the difference in price vs performance -- but you can't price out style and spirit really. While I like for my payments to be in the same zip code as what I would pay for an Accord, I am willing to pay more for a Cadillac.

Ah, the joy of fine, well designed machinery...

You can’t really put a price on what it does for you personally, can you? ;)

Empathy would be more like it Bruce. Family’s can be a real roller coaster ride sometimes, with some incredible highs, and gut wrenching lows. (in fast succession..).That’s when you really appreciate the quiet, boring times when nothing is really happening. You learn to cherish those..

Maybe that’s why I haven’t even thought about the Ferrari in some time. Honestly, it wasn’t until I read your encouraging post that it jogged my memory. Maybe I’ll email Steve today…My wife just said,. “Oh you know Steve, it’ll happen all of a sudden..”

We’ll see, but you all will be some of the first to know! Hey, maybe I’ll even comb my hair for a new picture!
