Transmission Information Tag

Recommended Posts

My ISS sensor varies by the julian date of my transmission. Does anyone know where the tag is on the tranny? I was told it was on the right side where the axle enters the transaxle.

I know I can find this in the manual, I was just curious if anyone knew where the tag was. I was under the car the other day and did not see any tag, maybe it faces up.

I think Scotty is asking about his 96.

On mine, the tag is on the Passenger's, rearward side of the tranny, tucked up nice and safe just above the pan. Again, on my car it is almost completely blocked from view by the steering rack... but you can just barely see it with a flash light and a mirror helps too.

Edit I'm trying to add a picture... Wish me luck!

Edit, Edit! Ya that worked... OK I'm not sure if that picture is a 4T80E... But on my 02 thats were the tag is.

What's with the gap?? Did your 91 have a 4.9 in it? What years did they make the 4.5? Was it only one year?

The 4.5 engine was used in the 1988-1990 Devilles/Eldorados/Sevilles. It was superceded by the 4.9 engine in those cars in 1991. I think the 4.5 engine was also used in the Allante through 1992.

The gap was due to my not liking the styling and because I lived in Queens, NY and they were stealing the bumpers off Cadillacs.

My 91 had a 4.9, great engine

I'm embarrassed to say...

I don't mind the look of the "slope back" Sevilles.

And my dream project some day will be to find a low mile rust-free 1987 2.8L Cimarron and swap in a Northstar... The "J" body cars are basically a Fiero going down the road backwards and the Northstar is an "easy" swap into those

And I'll call it the "Little Dipper" Get it? the Northstar is the star at the end of the handle of the little dipper... Or if I wanted to be a total geek I could call it "Ursa Minor"

With a "loose" exhaust and I should have a 12 second screamer. Supercharged and I'm in the 11s B). And still get about 17 MPG city.

It would be guaranteed to be a favourite at the track in the valley!

Okay, I don't represent any official organization with the authority to pronounce you a "Geek," but in my book at least, you are now "officially" a GEEK! There! :D:D:D

The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

I would love to have a 1976 seville D'elegance 2 tone grey/black with a grey leather interior.

350 fuel injection

did you know they had the option for air cushions (later called air bags)

and pulsating brakes (1st generation anti-lock brakes)

I think the car was ahead of it's time all around.

BTW, I would keep it all original right down to the 8track

I actually liked the sloped back also, the front of that car was awesome!

Yeah, it's suprising how much technology was actually invented a long time ago. For instance, VVT was invented back in 1968, but is just now showing up more than ever. I do like older caddy's but I can't get any for 3 reasons, not enough money, not enough room, and there aren't many around anymore.
