blackjacksavage
Have just changed transmission filter,in 1993 Eldorado,on cold day car will not move in any gear. Does anyone have a clue as to where I should look,it moves when it's warm outside. It was doing the same thing occasionally was the reason for the filter change
Cadillac Jim
You could start by running the OBD codes and see if there are any transmission diagnostics. Without the codes, the only thing that I can think of are low fluid (you probably checked that long ago) and sticking shift solenoids. If you drained the transmission and replaced the lost fluid, that might help with the stuck solenoids. barczy01
If you rev the gas does it eventually move cold? Did changing the fluid and filter change anything?
blackjacksavage
To Cadillac Jim There are no codes set To barczy01 Yes if you rev in 1st gear it will eventually move. I had just changed fluid and filter

blackjacksavage
to barczy01 I am new to owning a cadillac,I need a little direction to this filter in the side cover. I have the ATSG service manual for the THM 4T60E and I don't see any mention of it anywhere. Thanks by the way for your response..
barczy01
Sorry... thought you had a 4t80e. I wonder if you have a sticking piston in the lower valve body, worn seals or hydraulic leak until the unit warms up and seals the leak . KHE
Were there O-rings on the scavenger screen that did not get installed? Quote Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
winterset
Did the problems start after installing the filter? If so, you need to find out what was done wrong, and re-do the job.
blackjacksavage
It happened before, once or twice, that was the original reason for changing the filter. I have pulled the pan checked that the filter was tight. backed it off the ramps, seamed to shift fine, next morning the same symptoms
barczy01
i believe your loosing fluid pressure through your intermediate clutch housing and or seals. Once the seals warm up it seals the leak.
