Cadillac Jim
This last one has a short or open in the networking line (the PPL wire). It could have been caused by someone trying to short pins in the OBD connector like in the old days when shorting the right pins would start the CHECK ENGINE light blinking the codes. Or, some idiot may have tried to disable "all that computer stuff," possibly to "fix" a problem, by pulling the PPL wire out of a couple of connectors or cutting the PPL wire a couple of times. Or, someone could have blown things out big by doing a fast charge while the battery was connected. The last possibility, hooking a battery charger or jumper cables up backwards, would likely result in a car that simply would not respond to anything. I would return the car and tell them to call me when the car has NO CODES after an OBD driving cycle. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. KHE
hi yes i did cut off the two white wires with an orange insulation coming from the lock Now according to my key #13 i should have 750 ohms Resistance or Do i have to double my values to 1500 Ohms Having the two wires disconnected from the harness? Your resistor value should be 7500 ohms or 7.5 k-ohms, not 750. It sure sounds to me like something got pinched in the column when R&R-ing the turn signal switch. alvarado626
Hi I Tried the Valet Button and Nothing Yes KHE u right My New key Value is at 7500 Ohms all the way to my cluster that is with a disconnected Plug at the back at the Cluster Now like i said before i changed the Turn signal, wiper, and ignition switches after all these problems almost forgot also changed the housing ignition key hole Now heres what i did............. the two white wires coming down from the ignition switch i disconnected them from (think its call cavity connector) I also Disconnected the purple white/ white black at the back of cluster plug . Now I Ran 2 Little wires from the 2 white ones thru the back cluster connectors just to bypass wires traveling to the cluster Same thing car just crank I Really Believe my problem is at IPC PCM Or PassKey Decoder Module what u guys think ? Only Reason i don't take my car to the Dealer cuz I'm On SSI Obama doesn't send me that much of Money Thank u Guys............................. http://online2.statefarm.com/b2c/sf/agent/75/3902
KHE
Not sure what you mean by the cluster - the PASS key system has two small white wires that run from the ignition switch through the column that connect under the dash. The white wires are encased in a orange outer jacket and the plug is a small, two pin connector. You need cut the white wires on the ignition switch side of this connector and then solder in the resistor so the system does not see the key pellet, only the bypass resistor. I don't believe the issue is a bad PASS key module, my guess is that the white wire(s) were almost ready to break at the ignition switch and when you replaced the turn signal switch, you broke one of them and did not notice it. Don't give up - we'll get it working again. Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71

BodybyFisher
I am really glad that you finally figured your problem out, that is great But I take offense to this generalization, that you make Theirs really no need for the Dealer to Diagnostic Ur Caddy Remember all they want its ur money in my situaton The dealer has the experience, expertise and tools and equipment to properly diagnose problems that occur with your vehicle. They provide a service, just like your haircutter, shoeshine guy and landscaper and they SHOULD get paid for their service. To state all they want is your money, to me is an improper characterization, they get PAID for a service that they provide. I am sure that you have a job also, suppose I said all you want is your bosses MONEY? We are here to help you anyway we can, we are here to educate you in describing your problem to the dealer or your mechanic. We are not here to bash Cadillac, the dealer or GM. If you can help someone with this problem terrific, you had a uniquie problem that was difficult to diagnose, and you know what, the dealer probably would have fixed it in a couple of days, and that is worth something. Glad you finally fixed it Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
