making a swap

i am new, dont know where to post but i was hoping this would reach someone with the right info, i have a 98 deville, whitch blew the head gasket, i guess, burning more water than gasoline, my question, can a 2000 motor be made to fit in my 98, a friend of mine has a 2000 but my interchage book shows it not to fit, has anyone ever made tha swap, any info would be great, thankyou

Hey what book do you have that details engine swaps? You can purchase a combustion gas test kit from NAPA to check your head gasket

It won't work - the way the ECM looks at the crankshaft position sensors is totally different. I think some of the mounts were changed also. Even if you could get it to bolt up, it would be impossible to get the engine electronics to function properly.

It would be better to repair the existing engine.
