BodybyFisher
Some years have a hatch in the floor of the trunk that you can open to get at the fuel pump, that is what the Haynes manual is referring to Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

But... If you CAN get to the fuel pump from the trunk...NO. If you CAN NOT get to the fuel pump from the trunk...YES.
Ranger
Devilles did not get the access panel in the trunk until 2000.
Phillip
Yes, the '97 will not have the access hatch. A good idea that came too late for you I am afraid. You will have to drop the tank to replace the pump. Have you checked the fuel pump relay under the hood. It is easy enough to check and it may save you a pump. dustincp
So..... does the Haynes manual combine the 1997 deville with the 2000 deville? I was going to buy one of those manuals but am now unsure if it combines both cars, it could cause more problems than what you already have. NO, not the DVD version, occasionally you can find the BOOK FSMs, go to www.helminc.com to buy new manuals, if you cant find them on ebay or amazon, you must be patient to get them on ebay.
