kad3338
The Bose stereo in my 96 STS started making a static like noise from the rear speaker area yesterday. You static noise seems to stay at the same level regardless of how low or high the volume is turned and is still there when I play a tape or cd. I can crank up the system and it still sounds ok, the static volume seems to be at same level. Anyone have a similar experience, not sure if it's a speaker problem, amp problem or other? Cadillac Jim
As a general matter, the symptoms sound like something got into the speaker cone like a washer, a dead beetle or a piece of cardboard. Other possibilities are a torn speaker cone or a warped speaker cone that is dragging on the magnet, but those things are rare these days. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. jackc
If your speakers are individually amplified, you've probably got a bad amp. This may be what you need - or close to it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bose-Speake...1QQcmdZViewItem
