2007 DTS

Recommended Posts

Hi there

Just recently turned in my 94 STS for an almost new 2007 DTS.

Can't seem to locate the cabin filter ----- wondered if one of you could help me out here.

Many thanks,

Paul

PS Was going to buy another STS but can't get over how much smaller they are on the inside than the 94 and 98 editions.

Went with the the DTS because it is about the same size as the old STSs'.

It has the performance package so it doesn't look too much like the type driven by Seinfelds old man eh!

I don't know if you looked yet, but most of the cabin filters are down by the gas pedal, on the left side of the HVAC housing. I was trying to look up your owners manual, but was unable to find one. Check your owners manual, I am sure they pin point it for you, hopefully by 2007 they made it easier to access and change as it was hard to do in the past.

Long time no see, Congratulations on the new car, post some photos. Aren't you friends with BigJay?, hows he doing..

Hmmmm...

It always frustrates me when 1995 information is applied to 200x cars. Things change..

"Press the off and warmer" to access codes for example. Not on a Deville.

Anyway, the cabin filter on a Deville is under the hood, look near the passenger wiper blade, you will see a plastic panel. 2 minutes to change.

That is why I said this as I didn't know "Check your owners manual, I am sure they pin point it for you, hopefully by 2007 they made it easier to access and change as it was hard to do in the past"

The first thing I did was to check the owners manual but it doesn't mention anything about the cabin air filter although it is shown as being available for this car on Partsource ----- I just can't find it.

Hopefully those darn designers/engineers didn't place it like they didi in my 98 STS where I had to hang upside down and pull ot and replace three crappy little filters! Well to be honest I could never get the three back in!

If it has nor been moves since '03 it is like Logan said, on the HVAC box below the windshield base on the passengers side. It's so easy it would make a Seville owner cry.

It DID make a Seville owner cry. ME! My '99 was the worst, this one is like a walk in the park.

One word of caution, not only do you really need to search the owners manual for information on this filter, the information given is VAUGE, bordering on incorrect. In fact, I doubt that mine was installed correctly from the factory!

The new filters have a cut on both sides of the filter support, which requires that they be FOLDED and inserted into the filter holder. NOTHING is mentioned of this in the manual at all. Yes, the book tells you how to remove the frame, but not how to install JUST the media. I suppose factory filters come with a new frame, I may never know the answer to that.

Anyway, try it, you'll like it! Let me know if you try one of the new scented versions.....I was tempted, but it's a bit too early to let go of that new leather smell! 2150 miles on it now.

Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.

I simply run mine empty. Lived for 30 years before that without a cabin filter.

Got tired of the local oil change place flubbing the reinstall. I actualy request they leave the tires and the filters alone. Just change the oil.
