Thanks for the reminder.

I had forgot about the date code stamped on tires.

I will need two sets in the next year... one set for the DTS and a set for my work truck

I "WILL" be checking the date codes..

When I find my tires worn I simply buy a newer vehicle and insist the dealer install new tires on the car. In the past I've also insisted on a new battery and antifreeze. Works for me.

Gotta sign off now; I need to go outside and check the date code on my "new" tires. <_<

Warren

There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

Buying new rubber from a high-volume tire store is one way to avoid the shelf life situation. The tires that were installed on my '98 on Feb. 13, 2003, all have 2003 manufacture dates.

COSTCO.

As you know, I am a fan of Costco. Free lifetime rotating and balancing...and no cross-selling. Good info Jim, that's great to know

This tire activity got me seriously thinking about my travel plans for the next 60 to 90 days. There will be a trip to TX and a trip to Canada between now and Labor Day. Since my tires have rolled past 70,000 miles already, there is no sense (or safety) in setting myself up for tire trouble on the Interstate.

Just returned from the local Discount Tire store where I had them order tires and screen them for 2008 manufacture date. It will take them a week or so to round them up and they would most likely be coming fresh from the wharehouse in S.C.

So between this thread and the clip on wet stoppiing distances, my wallet is lighter.

What happened to Costco?, they are currently offering $60 back on a set of 4, I have a thread in the 19th hole about it.

What clip on wet stopping distances?

Thanks

I will be relocating on or before Aug. 1, and Costco is just not convenient to where I will be. Discount Tire has more locations and I was happy doing business with them for many years in TX.

I thought someone (Jason?) linked the video to this board somewhere but couldn't find the thread. Here it is from the horse's mouth
