KenD
how hard is it to R&R the heater inlet and outlet pipes. Mine burst yesterday and the mechanic I took it to says 3 hrs, but they are not quite certain if they want to tackle it. The pipes run behind the engine it looks like by the firewall. What has to be taken off to get to these? HELP! This car has been costing me a fortune lately and I don't want to let it go just yet. I'm trying to save it for my daughter... BodybyFisher
Those pipes are a biach to change, I changed mine, search heater pipes under my name and you will find the thread. Those pipes were hard to do, AND, I had my carriage dropped... Three hours is optimistic.... You are driving a 94, expect the problems you are having, maintenance rises as it gets older. KHE
The worst part is accessing the bolts on the clamps that retain the heater pipes at the back of the engine compartment. You will need to drop the front of the cradle to tilt the engine forward to gain clearance to access the bolts. Be sure to disconnect the suspension sensor links from the cradle prior to lowering it or you run the risk of damaging the sensors. Remove the coil pack and the rear bank of plug wires to gain additional room. If you have the original blower motor, replace it with the new design and install the heat shield while the engine is rocked forward. A couple of clamps at the surge tank were a little difficult also. I would expect the job to take a half day. Make sure to have plenty of beer in close range. KHE
Keep in mind that when Kevin rips his shirt open he has an on his chest!!! I wish I did at times... I forgot to add that plenty of cussing helps too as long as children and the neighbors are out of earshot.... KenD
well gents, just had it towed to the dealership as this is way out of my league. They want 5 hours to do the job to which I said to go ahead and proceed. My buddy is the VP there so he's gonna give me a break on the labour, but it's still gonna cost me a pretty penny. KHE//BBF, you are right, they said that they would have to drop the carriage a smidge to get to the pipes. JimD
Can anyone tell me the part numbers for these lines for a 03 seville? Thanks There are some significant differences in the cooling system plumbing components between the original poster's 1994 model and your 2003 model. Whatever issue you are experiencing would be worthy of a new thread. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
adallak
I would rather bypass the heater core with a piece of heater hose, if that is possible on a Northstar. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
fonz15x
on my 03 seville i was finding a coolant drip every once and a while. It is located on the passenger side about even with the passenger tire and 2-3 feet from in from the tire. After taking a closer look this weekend i looked at the heater core hoses and noticed they are rubber and now i am wondering there is anyone else who has came across this issue before. If so can i get some insight?
