sam31
I have a 95 STS that the stop light bar mounted on the trunk lid only half works. How do I get to the bulbs for replacement? The owners book was no help. Thanks

Caddynut
That is an LED strip and bulbs cannot be replaced. the light bar has to be removed and replaced with a new one. I have the same problem with my 92 Seville and I know junk yards won't sell you one unless you buy the entire trunk lid. A new one from a dealer is about $450 bucks!!! You know what I did.....I ended up buying a red light strip from JC Whitney that was 48 " long and mounted right over the LED strip on the Seville. I also used the wires that were already connected to the light strip and it looks and works good. The light strip doesn't exactly look like the original one when it lights up,but it does get the job done for about $14. 2008 BMW 328xi 2007 Chrysler Aspen 2001 Cadillac Seville STS 2000 Ford Ranger XLT1998 Mitsubishi Spyder Convertible 1996 Saturn SC-11991 Ford F-1501979 Chevrolet Caprice1968 Ford LTD1965 VW Beetle "Herbie The Love Bug Replica** 1961 VW Beetle

gc_caddy
Just curious... can you just disconnect the light bar? At least it'll look better than with just half the LEDs working. You could paint over the light bar to match the body color. (Maybe also add a small center mounted light inside, from another vehicle?) Will the DIC or flasher rate change to report the disconnected light bar?

Barry94
I repaired mine about 6 years ago. It's not a 5 minute fix. If a rebuilt from Logan is $150.00, then that's a good deal. Based on what is in the strip, (crappy wires), then I would assume that one of Logan's rebuilt lights would be better than a new one. Logan
Oh geez...Hey caddynut! Send us your lamp and we will fix it for free. I had a good laugh on the JC unit. That's no way to go thru life owning a Cadillac Seville. The replacement lamps are extremely expensive....They are a sealed unit. Not even made by Cadillac.....made by Stanley Electronics. Junkyards will sell you one...if you buy the complete decklid or rear clip. There is a right way and a wrong way to repair these lamps. We know...our first 30-40 lamps were junk. But you learn...now pushing maybe 750 lamps repaired.... Lets see...on the left is a Catera 'lego' lamp. Center is a STS lamp with stud repair. And on the right is a Acura NSX lamp. The NSX one is a $1000 lamp. As for caddynut...really...send it in...drop us an email.
