fredster
Here's the codes that were set: 1406 "Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Position Sensor Performance" 0300 "Engine Misfire Detected" They cleared and have not set again, but the car runs rough at low rpm's when cold. I hate to buy a new EGR valve gasket and spend the time to pull/clean if it's a sensor problem. Anyone know if this code indicates a valve or sensor problem. Actually, if it's a valve problem, I think I will replace instead of clean. GMpartsdirect has this part for $116. Dealer wants $283!!! I think if it's the valve, it would be better to replace. Anyway, the car has 70K miles Fred

fredster
Yeah, I think I'll just go buy the $4 gasket at Advanced Auto Parts and clean the valve. Then just see what happens. Fred
winterset
Remember - do not let the cleaner run into the top (coils) of the EGR. Also, we learned that you can connect a torx bit to the pintle valve & spin it to clean it better. isn't there a way to change the value of the EGR position from the dash? (off/warmer) - maybe change the value to a more extreme position to see if the car runs better at idle?
