confusion
Be careful. Bon ami is a cleanser, like comet. I've heard of people using this like a polishing compound. I'd not fool with it, because it could scratch your paint big time! If you need some heavy duty cleaning action, a simple polishing compound is inexpensive, anyway. I've noticed that a good carwash liquid has a polish already in it. So, after a good hand rubbing, regular washing with a good carwash liquid will keep your paint looking good. BodybyFisher
GM used to re-package Bon-Ami under their name... I WISH I could find Bon-Ami for windows.... its the best to get built up crap off the windshield so that water sheets.. The last time I saw the "safe for glass" Bon Ami was in a grocery store in Canada. Since Bon Ami is originally a product of the JT Robertson Company of Manchester, Connecticut, we can only speculate why it is not available in our local (USA) grocery stores. I travel to southern Ontario several times a year and I will conduct a thorough grocery store search the next time I go north. How many truck loads do you want? I learned this when tinting winows.
Bill K
The nearest product to bonami I have found is Bar Keepers Friend. If you really want to find out how to take care of your cars paint and what products are available and what is best for you, go to www.autopia.org Learn the lingo, use the search & read a lot. Believe me the info is there and my cars show it.

Marika
http://www.zymol.com Nuf said If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans. JimHare
Has anyone tried that Mothers Power Ball thingy for polishing your wheels that goes on your drill? I was gonna buy one till I saw the price ($18.99 at Walmart). I was wondering how long it would last...for $20.00, it better last. I bought one last year, I find it's a little big for the Eldo & Deville wheels - not as flexible as I thought it might be. I hear they market a smaller one now, it might be more advantageous. You do need a good portable (15v+) or an electric drill with variable speed on it - my little 6v drill that I first tried it on didn't do much. As far as waxes and polishes go, don't forget that you need a good prep for any wax to look good - otherwise you're just protecting the crap that's already on the car... Here's my cut at it: 1) good wash with automotive wash, not Dawn, to remove surface dirt. 2) good claybar (detailers clay, not Play-Do..) to remove embedded contaminants 3) wash again 4) The base on all my cars for the last half dozen years has been Klasse All-in-One. It is a miracle product, AFAIC. Good polish, wipe on/wipe off, cleans the paint and leaves a very good protective coat. 5) After the AIO, I go to Klasse High-Gloss Sealant Glaze, AKA "SG" 6) SG can be layered, reapplying each coat about 12-24 hours after the previous one. A VERY VERY VERY thin coat is best - about the thickness of a shadow.. Wipe On, Wipe off. DO NOT LET IT HARDEN! After three or four coats, most any car will gleam! 7) After the SG, I've used as toppers, all with good success, P21S Carnuba wax, Collinite Insulator Wax or Collinite 925, same product/different bottles (as a winter wax cause it's hard as a rock), and I just tried the Turtle Wax Platinum Ultra Gloss Liquid Wax on the Deville - it ain't too bad for eight bucks over the counter. The key is preparation. I've been testing various waxes and stuff for a while now. Everybody has their favorite boutique product, it seems. I think a lot depends on the color and condition of you car. On my black ones, all the above give me very good shine, reflectivity, and depth. I even AIO/SG my wheels, and they are a breeze to keep clean. I even AIO my glass - bird stuff, bugs, dirt, dust and grime just wipe off. JimHare
WOW Jim, Your routine sounds a bit like painting the Golden Gate bridge, by the time your finished, it's time to start again. darn near, it seems at times. Actually, it's not that bad. It seems that washing or waxing the car(s) is the only real exercise I get (besides jumping to conclusions ) Takes about 4-5 hours for a complete job. Then three hours to put everything away... As I think I've said before, the gals only get a complete go-over twice a year. In between, it's a wash maybe twice a month, a wax touch up and a sealant. I QD them about every other day, depending on the weather, the avian bombardment and the general state of affairs. We have a touchless car wash nearby that I use in a pinch. With the black, they show dirt and crap so easily..that's the only drawback to my two gals..I miss my moonstone metallic Deville in that regard. But when they shine, they SHINE!!!!
