sonjaab
My 93 Deville 4.9 has been stalling out while driving. Engine warm and will die when slowing down or pulling up to a stop sign. Will Imm. restart tho. It does it with a/c on or off. Engine runs smoothly. NO codes either Idle air control or failing ICM? Ideas? rockfangd
Did this start after the blower replacement? Almost sounds like a pickup issue. Losing pickup signal causing engine to stall. Could be ICM related, typically fail either where the pickup plugs into it or by heat. Most of the time I find they either will not restart until cool, or not at all. sonjaab
YES............. Started after blower install. I checked all connectors and such. Maybe the idle air control? Logan
There is a 4.9L idle learn procedure that is suppose to be done after a battery disconnect and other repairs. I would look in the service manual for the specific procedure as different vehicle IPCs and computers etc were used based on the exact vehicle year and platform. Most folks don't do it....or the car seems to work fine not doing it. But sometimes it does fix the stall problem. This is posted on this site.....but I think it's the E/K 4.9 procedure. http://www.caddyinfo.com/idlelearn.htm Quote Logan Diagnostic LLC www.airbagcrash.com www.logandieselusa.com www.ledfix.com www.ledfix.com/yukontaillightrepair.html www.ledfix.com/ledreplacements.html www.ledfix.com/j42385toolrental.html
rockfangd
I completely agree. There are other GMs that have the same issue, mostly resolved by 96. I do not remember this ones procedure but I do believe it was unique to this engine. Should be easy to find though Quote GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile
sonjaab
Hmmmm I do note a code 52 when doing the diagnosis also. Well the old battery did go dead and I had a new one installed after blower replacement. Then the stall started. Checked a wiring, hoses etc. and they seem secure and in place. So I will give the reprogram procedure a shot. I DO HAVE A cADDY service manual also. rockfangd
I know the procedure can be a pain in the butt. Been there before. I have fought issues with IAC motors and they make me want to pull my hair out when they do not cooperate. What is it currently doing?
