Hoses may be routed wrong.

Looks like the 4.9L water pump may be using a plastic impeller......these can get loose or crack and slip. Can cause odd flow problems.

Its all still GM factory untouched except for the heater core hoses.

No overheating.  Still haven measured temps at heater core.

STILL gotta hit up Harbor Freight for one of those insta. temp guns. to check.

Winter rat heat cranks!

And the Weak Heat story drags on................

Well.......I blew the motor in my s-10 so the Caddy with the poor heat is in winter service !

Already busted off the drivers door cladding!

Brrrr........Its been frigid -0 in syr. ny area.  Mucho snow too!

Been freezin to death.  Even letting the car run for a hour or so.

Then its barely warm and notice when driving the heat is even weaker!

New core, temp doors work.........

DUH !  New thermostat !

Been afraid to touch them virgin thermo. housing bolts.

Engine clean and a easy turn of socket they came loose..........Phew!

Got one 195 stant (wrong temp?), gasket.........

Installed in minutes, start car (garage door open),  fill and burp rad., install rad. cap,

eyeball under hood 4 leaks.............

BANG !   Wicked HOT heat !

T-stat was my exact thought. Glad it went well.

What happened to the S10 engine? was it the 2.2l or the 4.3l? Both were actually very good in the S10

The s-10 is a 4.3 v-6.

Figured the intake gaskets disolved like I see all over the s-10 forums.

Its got 200k on its beautiful rust free body!  Cold a/c and hot heat too.

Engine oil like a milkshake...........

Changed the oil and filter and it still runs good.

NO coolant in it.

Gotta do a coolant pressure test and a compression check before i do anything else.

Daily below zero and mucho snowfall here in frozen NY has killed my motivation to mess with it.

I am lucky to have a warm heated garage tho.

My poor z-28 has to sit outside for now as I need the garage bay open just in case I need motivation.

LOVING that smoking hot heat in the Caddy tho!

Probably is intake gaskets. If they are original they may still be the cement ones. The acidity in the coolant causes the most problems with these. I change coolant every couple years regardless of what it is. Been trouble free
