Response:  "TC037 left rear wheel speed sensor continuity.  Just rewired and continuity doesn't seem to be an issue. Unfortunately, when trouble code comes on, locked out of first gear.  Is there a relationship with PCM?"

my response:

you can check the circuit back through PCM using approach here http://www.autorepairinstructions.com/archives/abs-traction-control-wheel-speed-sensor/ basically use ohm meter to check for low but not no resistance back through connector pins. I would suspect a) disconnected B) wheel sensor problem however once you know connection good.

agreed. I would inspect the harness to the left rear hub assembly.

Although uncommon I have seen them unplugged before. Mainly from when something was done to the knuckle.

Make sure the harness is routed into the clips properly, if it is not it may be pulling and losing connection.

If all is good unplug the plug to the hub and look at the pins in the plug (female pins) and see if they are opened up where the male pin inserts.

Can be hard to see but is a more common problem.

Does he have any noise coming from the hub?  Have him do s-turns and see if he gets a growl.  It is probably wiribg but a defective hub is a thought.
