I Got To Drive Bruce's New STS "V"

Recommended Posts

Just got back from a nice meeting with Bruce and his new STS "V"...

He was nice enough to let me drive it for a few minutes...:D :D

It is an absolutely beautiful car with (I think( all available options...

We took it up on the freeway and he told me to STEP ON IT... :yupi3ti:

So.... being the nice guy that I am... I followed orders... :P

We were running about 65 when I stepped on it.

I only ran it up to a little over 110, but it sure didn't take it long to get there.

Bruce hasn't ridden with me much so I didn't go any faster...

Believe me... I wanted to, it was SO MUCH FUN, but I restrained myself...

THAT was hard to do...:D :D

The power delivery is very linear...from the 1800 RPM we were running all the way to a little over 110 MPH.

I was really surprised by that...

You really couldn't hardly tell when it shifted gears... it just kept pushing you back in the seat the same way no matter what RPM it was at. :yupi3ti:

Here are a couple of pictures of his new car...

Please excuse my old antique camera... One of these days I will get a better one. :P

It was good to see you again, Jim. Now I really feel bad for not detailing the STS-V before I came out! :P

Thanks for getting the great shot of the headlight washer in action.

I'll put my pics on the blog and link it back here: http://caddyinfo.com/wordpress/?p=9692

My fav shot was with both our Cadillacs:

Ran out to Grapevine Texas to meet with Texas Jim and show him my STS-V.  Jim lives out west somewhere, so Grapevine is 30 miles from me and 35 miles from him more or less. I managed not to talk to the STS-V Nav system the right way, so Jim actually provided turn by turn [...]

You betcha....:yupi3ti:

Wish you could have been there.

The smooth power delivery of the Supercharged NorthStar has to be experienced to be believed...

And the son of a gun is QUICK too...:P

Bruce and Jim, I'm glad to hear you all got together. Wish I lived closer. I would like for you to hear the supercharger with the aftermarket cai. Bruce I did get my car out today and I really don't notice the air intake sound, just the supercharger. Does that cars headlights follow the steering wheel too? Seems like if we have the washers we outta have wipers too. You guys have some very nice looking cars!! Jim you shouldn't a drove his car, you are gonna have the bug now::huh: Oh well I guess you can give Bruce a ride in your new car one of these days!!!

I don't think the 08 STS-V has the 'headlights follow the steering wheel' adaptive lighting; it does have 'Intellibeam' which is automated high/low beam switching.

Jim, I wish I was there also, but having been in the Monticello CTSV and doing 155 in the straight away with Bruce, I have an idea what you experienced. To me, the V series is the ultimate car, with the best braking, acceleration and handling I have ever seen. Those qualities to me, make it a VERY safe car...as it does what you want it to do
