joeb
looking at 97 deville. battery died? owner jumped it and no crank. has theft message? battery might be bad. might be good. could be theft issue. tried 2 different keys. no crank. i suppose the proper way to diagnose is to make sure battery is good and than check codes? owner says tow it. he wants it gone. how do you check battery condition with a no crank/no start issue? put meter on battery? can i run codes with good battery and theft issue? adallak
Could be a broken wire inside ignition lock cylinder. You should be able to run onboard diagnostics. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

Yes, if the problem is inside the ignition lock cylinder, you can bypass the system with a known resistor. See the link in Jim_97_ETC's signature. There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
