adamussg
I have a 96 Deville which I love and have had few problems with until recently. As of late, it starts when it wants to. I have a steady 12 volt on the battery, alternator is good, starter is good....but it's giving me some error codes....e52(pcm memory reset), e58 (passkey control problem) and e62( vacuum solenoid problem). Anyone out there have any suggestions? When the car won't start, I just disconnect negative battery terminal and reset computer and she starts fine... but if I turn car off... it's hit or miss if it's gonna start again...Where is the vacuum solenoid and how can I check it? Any help would be much appreciated... Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Ranger
Not sure what solenoid it is referring to, but your starting problem is the passkey (or related wires in the column). Start by trying your spare key. The resistor pellet may be wearing down and making intermittent contact.
winterset
Please provide more details. It will not start - is it cranking strong or does the started not engage because of the passkey message? what codes are current vs. history when this happens? & keep us informed. also these intermitent messages can be a bad + on the battery terminals. separate the + terminal leads at the battery & clean the inside & outside of each connector really good with a wire brush. BodybyFisher
I may be wrong but it appears to me that you might be picking up OBD1 code meanings, because an E062 is P062 (E062) ....................................... Cruise - Vacuum Solenoid Problem but on your 96 which is OBD2 protocol, it is > B0062 - Roof Rail Module-Left Deployment Loop Circuit (there are no other 62 codes) Your car is OBD2, get your codes here http://myweb.accessu...90/dtcobd2.html Is this a US EXPORT vehicle? BodybyFisher
OK, now...explain what you mean by STARTS WHEN IT WANTS TO???? Is it cranking or not? Or is the security system shutting you down and there is no cranking? Are you getting SECURITY messages on your DIC? BodybyFisher
You say E58, that is not typically an OBD2 type code, but if you mean P058 P0058 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Heater Circuit High Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 2 I do believe that E58 type codes may be for export vehicles but clear this up for us..
