Bruce Nunnally
My Mom had a Cadillac Calais also: I won this beer by mentioning the Cadillac Calais. The biker (Don, whom I never met until today) was in my store talking about cars. He likes old Caddys. A lot of bikers I know like big old American cars. I mentioned that when I was a kid my next door neighbor had a Cadillac Calais. He insisted that Cadillac never made a Calais, that my neighbor must have had an Oldsmobile. He bet me a beer. I went to the internet. I won the bet. I'm hoping I can substitute a mixed drink for the beer. I don't like beer. Warspite
I have a Series 62, which had all power items except Autotronic Eye and Air conditioning. This seems to be the "middle" level for that year, as this did not come with Coupe DeVille badges. There were also "town" and "Park Avenue" sedans, before Park Avenue designations went to Buick. I was unaware of a '62 Calais model that were badged as such. '62 was also the first year of cornering lights, but the blanks from '61 models may have been used for entry-level '62's. It's hard getting parts for any of these - as I'm finding out with mine. No major aftermarket like Year One or NPD for us vintage Caddy owners. BodybyFisher
Here is a little more info on the Calais, it was made from 65 to 74 according to this. ODD however as I am sure our 62 was a Calais, with manual wind up windows.... Our 65 was a Sedan DeVille, and I am sure it was not a Calais, now I am confused http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_Calais Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

As the Calais models have aged, I have grown to appreciate them more. These all featured the Cadillac drive-train and engines of the more costly models. BodybyFisher
I just figured it out, our 62 must have been a Series 62 Cadillac had a resounding 1965, producing close to 200,000 cars. But it was a banner year for all Detroit, so that was only good for 11th place. The "budget" Series 62, a fixture since 1940, was renamed Calais Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
