Anjimehra
Help needed on how to physically set the valve timing ie. which cylinder to be on TDC non firing etc etc.I have just assembled the reworked engine which fires up OK but overheats after a short while. Firing order is OK ( I think )

Anjimehra
Hi Bruce Assembled the engine after checking the timing. Problem is that the engine fires up easily & runs sweetly for around 1/2 an hour. After this she heats up & boils. The repalcement cam profile is different to the original & seems to be of the sports / rallying variety. The hydraulic tappets are also new, although the vendor only sent 15 tappets. We are using one old one. Could this be a reason for the overheating.Replacement parts have all come from US.The pushrods do not " dance " at TDC, maybe because the timing is asymmetrical. The water galleries & radiator are clean & the water pump is rebuilt. Need urgent help Anji
Texas Jim
Double check the thermostat. If I remember correctly...that thermostat can be put in upside down...
