Seanmannino
Read this just a few moments ago reports on CNN. I think they should do it just because they can! and the fact that it could help them pay off their debt...... http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-426628?hpt=C2 Sean M. 1997 Cadillac DeVille
CarlaValentine
That's insane. I say they should go for it too. A 556 hp wagon? Yeah, I'd buy it if I could afford it. It would be nice for people like me who have a few kids and want to be able to drive a powerful vehicle that everyone fits in.
BodybyFisher
There is no need for a 556 hp wagon to be mass produced, even though I know Texas Jim will be interested. While I know that the wagon will come with fuel efficient power plants, what is the point of putting a Corvette engine in a wagon?, because they can? I think its silly, leave the V for the CTS sedan and coupe and even the STS. Chrysler put the HEMI in that station wagon, anyone know how well that sold? They need to build bullet proof, fuel efficient and powerful vehicles without going nuts. The V is a nitch car, its doubtful that families that want a station wagon car to buy a gas guzzler with 500 ft lbs of torque. I would really like to know how well the M5 wagon sold and the Chrysler HEMI wagon sold http://www.leftlanenews.com/2008-bmw-m5-touring-revealed.html Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Texas Jim
Leave it to CNN to be biased and not know what the heck they are talking about. He called the CTS "V" Wagon... a "SPORTS CAR" I hope they build it. I am interested in one...if they build it. Not sure I can (make that "should") afford it...but I "AM" interested in it. :D
MAC
If GM wants to build a gas-guzzling, high performance wagon, so be it. If our stupid-*smurf* politicians had done the right thing from day one the U.S. would have been energy independent a long time ago and gas prices wouldn't be a big concern. Americans have their priorities all screwed up. There is enough oil in South Dakota alone to rival Saudi Arabia. The problem is that Americans are becoming more and more controlled by wacko environmentalists, commie politicians, and socialists. Part of brand recognition is high performance. Cadillac is in competition with Europe. Americans should not be afraid to build high performance cars simply because a bunch of environmental wackos and political pundits say it's not prudent. If GM produces only so many 556HP wagons and wins the high performance competition, then great! Are we Americans-or what?! Stop listening to whiners! BodybyFisher
I was talking to my wife about this tonight. Right now GM has the government controlling it. GM needs to get rid of the government and the only way for that to happen is to sell cars. The way to do that is to build the best cars and sell lots of cars The market needs to be analyzed closely to see what is going to sell. What does the market want, and build it. Because they CAN put a 554 hp engine in a station wagon, does not mean that they should. They already build the what has been described as the best American car, the CTS-V. If the market wants 554 hp wagons great, but potential demand should be determined. Building cars is not like "FIELD OF DREAMS", where, IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL SELL... One of the reasons I said, how did the Chrysler HEMI wagon sell and how did the M5 wagon sell was to ask, HOW DID THE MARKET ACCEPT THESE VEHICLES? If they only sell 500 V wagons, does that make sense? Gas is $3.00 a gallon for regular again. This is a $60K vehicle with a hefty gas guzzler tax. They MUST build cars that are going to convince the world that they make the best car, and build cars that are going to sell. But, if they build cars that do not sell, its foolish. All I am saying is that they need to determine what will sell and sell like hot cakes, and build them. The mistake GM has made in the past has been NOT determining the market and for example putting all their chips on SUVs and TRUCKS. They should put their energy into STOPPING problems that are haunting them like timing chains on the CTS, etc They need to lead not follow BMW's M5 Wagon, look at AUDI's E-TRON http://www.audiusa.com/us/brand/en/exp/progress/Concept_Vehicles/audi_e_tron.html Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Texas Jim
Mike, I kinda agree with you about the CTS "V" wagon not being a "NECESSARY" automobile ...but... It sure would fit "MY" needs almost perfectly. I will soon "NEED" the room of a wagon... and I really "LIKE" the powertrain. (I don't really "NEED" the 556 HP...but I sure do want it. ) The only problem I have...is the price. I don't know if I would actually spend the money on it...priced at about 65K... that is pretty steep. Darling Wife is somewhat mobility impaired. She can not walk very far, so we will have to start taking the portable wheelchair on our road trips. That way, when we stop and have to walk a little distance to "SEE" something.. I can push her. While driving...if I need to get in a hurry... I can do that too. Another big PLUS for me... it would be such a SLEEPER. :D I just love that idea... of it being a sleeper. Just think of the ricers reactions... getting passed by Grandpa and Grandma in a STATION WAGON... :D
