It is worth sharing: Date: Sunday, August 9, 2009, 6:35 PM ************************************** Dear Mr. President: I recently visited the White House website and saw and read the video blog, Facts are Stubborn Things, featuring Linda Douglass, communications director for the White House's Health Reform Office. I want to thank you for asking the American public to advise you of 'fishy' statements being made in public and on the internet concerning the administration's Health Reform plan. I do so very much agree with you and Ms. Douglass, facts are stubborn things. I too want to see the disinformation eliminated from the media and internet, and countered at every turn. In response to your request, I found it very easy to find disinformation on this administration's health reform plan. In fact, there was so much out there on this and other administration efforts that I found it difficult to limit my quest to the health reform issue alone. I could not possibly call your attention to all of it, so I picked just the news articles, websites and blogs that I found to be the most egregious. But take heart. There are some factual statements being made about health care reform. Mr. President, I am an American Citizen, endowed by my "Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." These unalienable Rights are further codified in our United States Constitution and the Amendments thereto; wherein, as a citizen of the United States of America, I am guaranteed freedom of speech and the right to peaceably assemble without fear of the federal government impeding those activities. Your administration's video blog (http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are.... specifically states, "If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov." Disinformation? Fishy?? Is this the way the Executive branch of the federal government views the free exchange of thought and opinion among its citizens, or only when it represents a viewpoint that runs contrary to White House policy? Does the White House need to recruit spies among the general public to conduct data collection against their fellow citizens who are engaged in the free exchange of ideas in lawful and peaceable assembly in the electronic frontier? Comparisons can and will be drawn, both in literature and in history. Historically, are not these the actions of totalitarian regimes: Castro's secret police; Hitler's Gestapo; Stalin's NKVD? In fiction (if it indeed remains but fiction): Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451; Orwell's 1984. And as such comparisons dance in my still as-yet unfettered mind, I ask myself, "Is this America??" Of course, to the Orwellian world of the current administration, my personal pondering would be classified, 'thoughtcrime.' I refuse to be intimidated. I know that two plus two always equals four, Congressional budget-math notwithstanding. These unalienable Rights were given to me and the rest of mankind by God, and no man, not even a president with a Messiah complex, can take these Rights from me. The White House should not be recruiting spies among the population for the purpose of monitoring and abridging constitutionally protected speech. This action is a clear violation of 5 U.S.C. § 552a. Therefore, by the power vested in me, as a responsible citizen of the United States of America, I demand that the White House immediately cease and desist in this action. Further, in the interest of protecting the privacy of those that were party to any email exchanges or blogs forwarded to this email address, I call upon Congress to exercise her power of oversight against the Executive, to require full accounting of the illegal data collection activities of the present Administration and the destruction of any lists promulgated there from. Mr. President, others might be intimidated and fall into silence, but your actions have helped me to find my voice, which from this day going forth shall be loud and immutable. As a citizen-soldier in the American armed forces, I took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. In this commentary, I defend Constitutional Sovereignty once more. Call me a radical. Call me an extremist (your head of the Department of Homeland Security already has). Call me an enemy of the State. In doing so, you will only demonstrate your utter contempt for our Constitution and the liberties it provides. As I forward this to you, I am also forwarding it to each and every citizen in my address book, media outlets and conservative websites encouraging them to follow in the path that I undertake this day. Like those great patriots that signed their names to the Declaration of Independence, I will not cower before a tyrannical government, nor hide behind a pseudonym that would quickly be discovered (by my limited knowledge of our nation's intelligence gathering capabilities), but boldly pen my name to my remarks, declare them as mine, and further pledge that I will never cede my unalienable Rights to any man; least of all, to a man who would be king. When we spoke of Socialism last year, messiah, when we posted warnings of this administration, a few members balked and ridiculed us, and said, give him a chance. During the campaign, he showed radical associations and narrative and there were negative statements made about americans and america, this should be no surprise. I hope the doubting Thomas's have awakened. Glenn Beck has been delving into this administration/czars, their liberal backgrounds and statements is shocking.
