Have the tires balanced, if that does not fix the problem and if you dont have play, have a road force balance Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Cadillac's are indestructible! Cadillac is perfect! I AM a, "Cadillac enthusiast!" Tie rod ends don't cause vibration, as they don't spin. If a balance weight is missing, have the tire rebalanced. Tires/wheels spin and can cause vibration. Tie rod ends don't.

It is best to check it as described in the earlier post if just to rule it out. If the vibration comes and goes at different speeds, it is probably due to a tire. dustincp
The outer tie rod end can most certainly cause a vibration, do the 3 and 9 oclock procedure with the car jacked up and that will tell u if the tie rods are bad. I had a problem with my rack and pinion recently and ur problem is not the rack, it sounds like the outer tie rods, easy to replace. >>> TEXT EDITED OUT BY MODERATOR, PLEASE DO NOT CALL OTHER MEMBERS NAMES, EVEN IF THEY TAUNT OR HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION, THANKS, BBF<<<
MadeInAmerica
Tie rod ends don't spin, so they can't be the cause of a vibration. If a wheel is unbalanced, yes a worn tire rod end can allow the vibration caused by the unbalanced wheel to be even more pronounced, but the tie rod end itself will not cause a vibration. A worn tie rod end displays the symptoms of sloppy or loose steering response when turning the wheel. i was going down the highway bout 60 65 real fast vibration coming fron the right front wheel the balacer wieght is missing but i think it may be the tierods please help Cadillac tie rod ends never go bad! BodybyFisher
I see your point, if the wheel is out of balance, the bad tie rod will make the vibration worse. This fellow's original question was how to check the tie rod, which I addressed, THEN, I said, balance the wheels (given he lost weights). If balancing does not solve it a road force balance next Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Just because a tie rod doesn's spin does not mean it can't cause vibration - a tire wandering back and forth can cause a vibration. My old Park Avenue had a bad ball joint (it was severely worn) and a front end vibration would come and go. Once I replaced the ball joint, the vibration went away. BodybyFisher
I actually had a bad tie rod that vibrated through the steering wheel, maybe its a chicken or an egg story and the out of balance tire is the CAUSE but the slamming came from the bad tie rod because of the directional play in the wheel Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
